dṛṣṭvā tu devi kupitaṃ bhrukuṭīkarāla- mudyacchaśāṅkasadṛśacchavi yanna sadyaḥ prāṇān mumoca mahiṣastadatīva citraṃ kairjīvyate hi kupitāntakadarśanena

પરંતુ હે દેવી, તે મહિષ, તમારા ક્રોધાવિષ્ટ મુખને — ભ્રૂકુટિથી ભયંકર અને ઊગતા ચંદ્ર સમાન રક્ત એવા તેને — જોઈને, તરત જ પોતાનો પ્રાણ ન છોડ્યો: એ અત્યંત આશ્ચર્યજનક છે! કેમ કે ક્રોધિત અંતક (યમ)ને જોયા પછી કોણ જીવી શકે?
