The Bhuvaneshwari Ashtakam, from the Rudrayamala Tantra, is a beautiful eight-verse hymn to Bhuvaneshwari, the fourth of the ten Mahavidyas and 'Empress of the worlds'. Framed as a dialogue in which Shiva reveals the praise to the Goddess, it identifies her with the whole of creation — Svaha and Svadha, sun and moon, Gayatri and Savitri, cause and effect, Shiva and Vishnu, and the one Supreme Power beyond time. Its phala-shruti promises that reciting it thrice daily brings mastery of the siddhis, prosperity, protection from evil spirits and the fulfilment of every desire.

Bhuvaneshwari, the fourth Mahavidya, is the Mother Goddess as the queen and very fabric of the manifest universe — the cosmic space (akasha) within which all worlds arise. In the Rudrayamala Tantra the Goddess herself asks Shiva to declare a hymn in her honour as Bhuvaneshwari, and he reveals this Ashtakam, praising her as the support of all that exists. The hymn is widely recited in Shri Vidya and Shakta worship for prosperity, protection and the grace of the Empress of the worlds.

Tantric tradition holds that the devotee who recites this Ashtakam at the three twilights daily comes to command prosperity and the siddhis, with even kings inclining to his will and evil spirits and malefic planets turning away from his door — for, as the hymn affirms, there is no stotra equal to it in the three worlds.

श्रीदेव्युवाच - प्रभो श्रीभैरवश्रेष्ठ दयालो भक्तवत्सल। भुवनेशीस्तवं ब्रूहि यद्यहं तव वल्लभा॥१॥
Śrīdevyuvāca - Prabho śrībhairavaśreṣṭha dayālo bhaktavatsala। bhuvaneśīstavaṁ brūhi yady ahaṁ tava vallabhā॥1॥
Meaning:દેવીએ કહ્યું — હે પ્રભો! ભૈરવોમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ! દયાળુ, ભક્તવત્સલ! જો હું તમારી પ્રિયા છું તો ભુવનેશ્વરીનું સ્તવ કહો.
ईश्वर उवाच - शृणु देवि प्रवक्ष्यामि भुवनेश्यष्टकं शुभम्। येन विज्ञातमात्रेण त्रैलोक्यमङ्गलं भवेत्॥२॥
Īśvara uvāca - Śṛṇu devi pravakṣyāmi bhuvaneśyaṣṭakaṁ śubham। yena vijñātamātreṇa trailokyamaṅgalaṁ bhavet॥2॥
Meaning:ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું — હે દેવી! સાંભળો, શુભ ભુવનેશ્યષ્ટક કહું છું, જેને જાણવા માત્રથી ત્રૈલોક્યનું મંગળ થાય છે.
ॐ नमामि जगदाधारां भुवनेशीं भवप्रियाम्। भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदां रम्यां रमणीयां शुभावहाम्॥३॥
Oṁ namāmi jagadādhārāṁ bhuvaneśīṁ bhavapriyām। bhuktimuktipradāṁ ramyāṁ ramaṇīyāṁ śubhāvahām॥3॥
Meaning:ઓમ્. જગતના આધાર, ભવપ્રિયા, ભુક્તિ-મુક્તિ આપનારી, રમ્યા, રમણીયા અને શુભ લાવનારી ભુવનેશ્વરીને હું પ્રણામ કરું છું.
त्वं स्वाहा त्वं स्वधा देवि त्वं यज्ञा यज्ञनायिका। त्वं नाथा त्वं तमोहर्त्री व्याप्यव्यापकवर्जिता॥४॥
Tvaṁ svāhā tvaṁ svadhā devi tvaṁ yajñā yajñanāyikā। tvaṁ nāthā tvaṁ tamohartrī vyāpyavyāpakavarjitā॥4॥
Meaning:હે દેવી! તમે સ્વાહા છો, તમે સ્વધા છો; તમે યજ્ઞ અને યજ્ઞની નાયિકા છો; તમે નાથ છો, તમોહર્ત્રી છો, વ્યાપ્ય-વ્યાપકથી રહિત છો.
त्वमाधारस्त्वमिज्या च ज्ञानज्ञेयं परं पदम्। त्वं शिवस्त्वं स्वयं विष्णुस्त्वमात्मा परमोऽव्ययः॥५॥
Tvam ādhāras tvam ijyā ca jñānajñeyaṁ paraṁ padam। tvaṁ śivas tvaṁ svayaṁ viṣṇus tvam ātmā paramo'vyayaḥ॥5॥
Meaning:તમે આધાર છો અને તમે ઇજ્યા (પૂજા) છો; તમે જ્ઞાન, જ્ઞેય અને પરમ પદ છો; તમે શિવ છો, તમે સ્વયં વિષ્ણુ છો, તમે પરમ અવ્યય આત્મા છો.
त्वं कारणं च कार्यं च लक्ष्मीस्त्वं च हुताशनः। त्वं सोमस्त्वं रविः कालस्त्वं धाता त्वं च मारुतः॥६॥
Tvaṁ kāraṇaṁ ca kāryaṁ ca lakṣmīs tvaṁ ca hutāśanaḥ। tvaṁ somas tvaṁ raviḥ kālas tvaṁ dhātā tvaṁ ca mārutaḥ॥6॥
Meaning:તમે કારણ અને કાર્ય બંને છો; તમે લક્ષ્મી છો અને તમે હુતાશન (અગ્નિ) છો; તમે સોમ, રવિ અને કાળ છો; તમે ધાતા અને મારુત (વાયુ) છો.
गायत्री त्वं च सावित्री त्वं माया त्वं हरिप्रिया। त्वमेवैका पराशक्तिस्त्वमेव गुरुरूपधृक्॥७॥
Gāyatrī tvaṁ ca sāvitrī tvaṁ māyā tvaṁ haripriyā। tvam evaikā parāśaktis tvam eva gururūpadhṛk॥7॥
Meaning:તમે ગાયત્રી અને સાવિત્રી છો; તમે માયા અને હરિપ્રિયા છો; તમે જ એકમાત્ર પરાશક્તિ છો; તમે જ ગુરુનું રૂપ ધારણ કરો છો.
त्वं काला त्वं कलातीता त्वमेव जगतां श्रियः। त्वं सर्वकार्यं सर्वस्य कारणं करुणामयि॥८॥
Tvaṁ kālā tvaṁ kalātītā tvam eva jagatāṁ śriyaḥ। tvaṁ sarvakāryaṁ sarvasya kāraṇaṁ karuṇāmayi॥8॥
Meaning:તમે કાળ છો અને કાળથી અતીત પણ; તમે જ જગતની શ્રી (શોભા) છો; હે કરુણામયી! તમે જ સર્વ કાર્ય અને સર્વનું કારણ છો.
इदमष्टकमाद्याया भुवनेश्या वरानने। त्रिसन्ध्यं श्रद्धया मर्त्यो यः पठेत् प्रीतमानसः॥९॥
Idam aṣṭakam ādyāyā bhuvaneśyā varānane। trisandhyaṁ śraddhayā martyo yaḥ paṭhet prītamānasaḥ॥9॥
Meaning:હે વરાનને! આ આદ્યા ભુવનેશ્વરીનું અષ્ટક છે. જે મનુષ્ય શ્રદ્ધા અને પ્રસન્ન મનથી તેને ત્રિકાળ વાંચે છે, તેને વશ સિદ્ધિઓ થાય છે, ઘરમાં સંપત્તિ વશ રહે છે, અને આ સ્તોત્રના પ્રભાવથી રાજાઓ પણ વશ આવે છે. ભૂત, પ્રેત, પિશાચ આદિ અને ગ્રહો તેની દિશા તરફ જોતા પણ નથી. સાધક જે જે કામના કરે છે, ભુવનેશ્વરીની કૃપાથી તે પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે. તેના સમાન કોઈ સ્તોત્ર ત્રિભુવનમાં નથી; તે સર્વ સંપત્તિ આપનાર અને પવિત્રોને પણ પવિત્ર કરનાર છે. હે વરાનને! આ શ્રેષ્ઠ સ્તોત્ર સિદ્ધ થતાં ભુવનેશ્વરીની કૃપાથી સંપત્તિઓ વશ આવી જાય છે.
सिद्धयो वशगास्तस्य सम्पदो वशगा गृहे। राजानो वशमायान्ति स्तोत्रस्यास्य प्रभावतः॥१०॥
Siddhayo vaśagās tasya sampado vaśagā gṛhe। rājāno vaśam āyānti stotrasyāsya prabhāvataḥ॥10॥
भूतप्रेतपिशाचाद्या नेक्षन्ते तां दिशं ग्रहाः। यं यं कामं प्रवाञ्छेत साधकः प्रीतमानसः॥११॥
Bhūtapretapiśācādyā nekṣante tāṁ diśaṁ grahāḥ। yaṁ yaṁ kāmaṁ pravāñcheta sādhakaḥ prītamānasaḥ॥11॥
तं तमाप्नोति कृपया भुवनेश्या वरानने। अनेन सदृशं स्तोत्रं न समं भुवनत्रये॥१२॥
Taṁ tam āpnoti kṛpayā bhuvaneśyā varānane। anena sadṛśaṁ stotraṁ na samaṁ bhuvanatraye॥12॥
सर्वसम्पत्प्रदमिदं पावनानां च पावनम्। अनेन स्तोत्रवर्येण साधितेन वरानने। सम्पदो वशमायान्ति भुवनेश्याः प्रसादतः॥१३॥
Sarvasampatpradam idaṁ pāvanānāṁ ca pāvanam। anena stotravaryeṇa sādhitena varānane। sampado vaśam āyānti bhuvaneśyāḥ prasādataḥ॥13॥
