oṃ ṛṣiruvāca etatte kathitaṃ bhūpa devīmāhātmyamuttamam evaṃ prabhāvā sā devī yayedaṃ dhāryate jagat

(ਓਮ। ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ:) 'ਹੇ ਰਾਜਾ, ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਪਰਮ ਮਹਿਮਾ (ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਹਾਤਮਯ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਹੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਹੈ।
