Tulsi, the holy basil, is revered as the goddess Vrinda — a devotee so pure that she became most beloved of Lord Vishnu, who keeps her leaves upon his head and accepts no offering without them. Worshipped daily at the home shrine, especially in the month of Kartik and at Tulsi Vivah, her aarti is sung at dusk with a lamp before the Tulsi plant.

No worship of Vishnu or Krishna is complete without a leaf of Tulsi, and a home with a worshipped Tulsi is said to be guarded from disease and misfortune. Devotees light a lamp at her feet each dusk, especially through holy Kartik, and sing this aarti for health and grace.

Maiya jaya tulasi mata Saba jaga ki sukhadata sabaki varamata
Meaning:ఓ తల్లీ, నీకు జయము, తులసీ మాతా; సర్వ జగత్తుకు సుఖమిచ్చేదానా, అందరికీ వరమిచ్చే మాతా.
सब योगों से ऊपर सब रोगों से ऊपर । रज से रक्ष करके सबकी भव त्राता ॥
Saba yogom se upara saba rogom se upara Raja se raksha karake sabaki bhava trata
Meaning:సర్వ యోగాలకు మించి, సర్వ రోగాలకు మించి; (పాపపు) ధూళి నుండి అందరినీ కాపాడుతూ, నీవు అందరినీ భవసాగరం నుండి తరింపజేసేదానివి.
बटु पुत्री है श्यामा सुर बल्ली है ग्राम्या । विष्णुप्रिय जो नर तुमको सेवे सो नर तर जाता ॥

Meaning:నీవు శ్యామవర్ణ శ్యామవు, గ్రామపు తీగవు; విష్ణువుకు ప్రియమైన ఏ మనిషి నిన్ను సేవిస్తాడో — అతడు తరించిపోతాడు.
हरि के शीश विराजत त्रिभुवन से हो वन्दित । पतित जनों की तारिणी तुम हो विख्याता ॥

Meaning:నీవు హరి (విష్ణువు) శిరస్సుపై వెలసి, మూడు లోకాలచే పూజింపబడుదువు; పతిత జనులను తరింపజేసేదానిగా ప్రసిద్ధివి.
लेकर जन्म विजन में आई दिव्य भवन में । मानव लोक तुम्हीं से सम्पति पाता ॥

Meaning:నిర్జన ప్రదేశంలో జన్మించి నీవు దివ్య భవనానికి వచ్చావు; నీ ద్వారానే మానవ లోకం సంపదను పొందుతుంది.
हरि को तुम अति प्यारी श्यामवर्ण सुकुमारी । प्रेम अजब है उनका तुमसे कैसा नाता ॥

Meaning:నీవు హరికి అత్యంత ప్రియమైనదానివి, శ్యామవర్ణ సుకుమారివి; అద్భుతమైనది ఆయన ప్రేమ — ఆయనతో నీ బంధం ఎంత అపూర్వమైనది!
हमारी विपद हरो तुम कृपा करो माता ॥

Meaning:మా ఆపదను తొలగించు; మాపై కృప చూపు, ఓ తల్లీ.

How to Chant శ్రీ తులసీ ఆరతి
Light a lamp (ghee or camphor) and, holding it, perform the aarti by circling it before the deity while singing, ideally with a bell. Offer flowers and prasad, and conclude by taking the aarti blessing (passing the hands over the flame and to the eyes). Sing with devotion and a steady heart.
