tān samīkṣhya sa kaunteyaḥ sarvān bandhūn avasthitān kṛipayā parayāviṣhṭo viṣhīdann idam abravīt

അദ്ദേഹം ഇരുസൈന്യങ്ങളിലും ശ്വശുരന്മാരെയും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെയും കണ്ടു. അണിനിരന്നു നില്ക്കുന്ന ആ ബന്ധുക്കളെയെല്ലാം കണ്ടിട്ട്, കുന്തീപുത്രനായ അര്ജുനന് അത്യന്തം കരുണാപൂര്ണ്ണനായി ദുഃഖത്തോടെ പറഞ്ഞു.
