mayā tavātropahṛtau caṇḍamuṇḍau mahāpaśū yuddhayajñe svayaṃ śumbhaṃ niśumbhaṃ ca haniṣyasi

'ഇതാ ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് ഈ യുദ്ധയജ്ഞത്തിൽ ബലികളായി ചണ്ഡൻ, മുണ്ഡൻ എന്നീ രണ്ടു മഹാ മൃഗങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ശുംഭനെയും നിശുംഭനെയും നീ തന്നെ സ്വയം വധിക്കും.'
