Frequently Asked Questions
What is Disha Shool?
Disha Shool is the direction in which travel is considered inauspicious on a particular weekday. "Disha" means direction and "Shool" means obstruction — so travelling that way on that day is said to invite obstacles.
What if I must travel in that direction?
If travel in the Shool direction is unavoidable, a parihar (remedy) is observed — taking a prescribed item before leaving, e.g. today a mirror / milk. Sending something ahead in that direction a day earlier is also considered a remedy.
Is Disha Shool the same as Rahu Kaal?
No. Rahu Kaal is an inauspicious time of day, whereas Disha Shool is an inauspicious direction of travel. Both are considered when planning a journey.
