Dva Suparna (Two Birds on One Tree) — Complete Lyrics

द्वा सुपर्णा

Sanskrit text with English transliteration and translation

द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परिषस्वजाते तयोरन्यः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वत्त्यनश्नन्नन्यो अभिचाकशीति
dvā suparṇā sayujā sakhāyā samānaṁ vṛkṣaṁ pariṣasvajāte tayoranyaḥ pippalaṁ svādvattyanaśnannanyo abhicākaśīti
Two birds, inseparable companions, cling to the same tree. Of the two, one eats the sweet fruit; the other, without eating, simply looks on. (One bird is the individual soul absorbed in tasting the fruits of action; the other is the supreme Self, the witness, ever serene.)
