Dva Suparna (Two Birds on One Tree) — Complete Lyrics
द्वा सुपर्णा
Sanskrit text with English transliteration and translation
द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परिषस्वजाते ।
तयोरन्यः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वत्त्यनश्नन्नन्यो अभिचाकशीति ॥
dvā suparṇā sayujā sakhāyā samānaṁ vṛkṣaṁ pariṣasvajāte
tayoranyaḥ pippalaṁ svādvattyanaśnannanyo abhicākaśīti
Two birds, inseparable companions, cling to the same tree. Of the two, one eats the sweet fruit; the other, without eating, simply looks on. (One bird is the individual soul absorbed in tasting the fruits of action; the other is the supreme Self, the witness, ever serene.)
