Om. Salutations to the glorious Lord Rudra (Shiva); I bow in reverence to the Supreme One who removes all suffering. Salutations, O Rudra, to your fierce power (manyu) and to your arrow; salutations to your bow and to your two mighty arms — the opening prayer of the Sri Rudram, in which the devotee bows even to the Lord's weapons, seeking that their power become peaceful and protective.
