Today's Tithi (Aaj Ki Tithi)

A tithi is a lunar day — the time the Moon takes to move 12° ahead of the Sun. A lunar month has 30 tithis: 15 in the Shukla Paksha (waxing Moon) and 15 in the Krishna Paksha (waning Moon). Fasts (vrat), festivals and auspicious activities are fixed by the tithi, which is why knowing "today’s tithi" matters.
