The Ramalingashtakam is a cherished traditional hymn. Eight verses to the Shiva-linga worshipped by Lord Rama at Rameswaram (Ramalingeshwara) — the great linga of the southern sea, one of the holiest Shaiva shrines and a Jyotirlinga.

As told in scripture

It is said that to recite the Ramalingashtakam with a sincere and devoted heart is to draw near to the grace of the Lord, who never forsakes those who lovingly call upon Him.
