The Parashurama Ashtakam is a cherished traditional hymn. Eight verses to Parashurama — the axe-wielding sixth avatar of Vishnu, the warrior-sage of fierce splendour, son of Jamadagni and master of all weapons.

śubhradehaṃ sadā krodharaktekṣaṇam bhaktapālaṃ kṛpāluṃ kṛpāvāridhim vipravaṃśāvataṃsaṃ dhanurdhāriṇam bhavyayajñopavītaṃ kalākāriṇam yasya haste kuṭhāraṃ mahātīkṣṇakam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 1|| saumyarupaṃ manojñaṃ surairvanditam janmataḥ brahmacārivrate susthiram pūrṇatejasvinaṃ yogayogīśvaram pāpasantāparogādisaṃhāriṇam divyabhavyātmakaṃ śatrusaṃhārakam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 2|| ṛddhisiddhipradātā vidhātā bhuvo jñānavijñānadātā pradātā sukham viśvadhātā sutrātā'khilaṃ viṣṭapam tattvajñātā sadā pātu mām nirbalam pūjyamānaṃ niśānāthabhāsaṃ vibhum reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 3|| duḥkha dāridryadāvāgnaye toyadam buddhijāḍyaṃ vināśāya caitanyadam vittamaiśvaryadānāya vitteśvaram sarvaśaktipradānāya lakṣmīpatim maṅgalaṃ jñānagamyaṃ jagatpālakam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 4|| yaśca hantā sahasrārjunaṃ haihayam traiguṇaṃ saptakṛtvā mahākrodhanaiḥ duṣṭaśūnyā dharā yena satyaṃ kṛtā divyadehaṃ dayādānadevaṃ bhaje ghorarūpaṃ mahātejasaṃ vīrakam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 5|| mārayitvā mahāduṣṭa bhūpālakān yena śoṇena kuṇḍekṛtaṃ tarpaṇam yena śoṇīkṛtā śoṇanāmnī nadī svasya deśasya mūḍhā hatāḥ drohiṇaḥ svasya rāṣṭrasya śuddhiḥkṛtā śobhanā reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 6|| dīnatrātā prabho pāhi mām pālaka! rakṣa saṃsārarakṣāvidhau dakṣaka! dehi saṃmohanī bhāvinī pāvanī svīya pādāravindasya sevā parā pūrṇamāruṇyarūpaṃ paraṃ mañjulam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 7|| ye jayodghoṣakāḥ pādasampūjakāḥ satvaraṃ vāñchitaṃ te labhante narāḥ dehagehādisaukhyaṃ paraṃ prāpya vai divyalokaṃ tathānte priyaṃ yānti te bhaktasaṃrakṣakaṃ viśvasampālakam reṇukānandanaṃ jāmadagnyaṃ bhaje || 8|| || iti śrīparaśurāmāṣṭakaṃ sampūrṇam ||
