This is the beloved opening verse of the Krishnashtakam, among the most widely recited salutations to Lord Krishna. In a single shloka it recalls His birth as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki, His destruction of the tyrant Kamsa and the wrestler Chanura, and His glory as Jagadguru, the teacher of the world. It is chanted daily and especially on Janmashtami as a complete act of homage to Krishna.

ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ କୁହାଯାଇଥିବା ପରି

It is said that whoever bows to Krishna with this verse, remembering Him as the joy of Devaki and the slayer of tyrants, is freed from inner foes and filled with devotion.

ଅର୍ଥ:ବସୁଦେବଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, କଂସ ଓ ଚାଣୂରଙ୍କ ସଂହାରକ, ଦେବକୀଙ୍କ ପରମାନନ୍ଦ ସ୍ୱରୂପ, ଜଗଦ୍ଗୁରୁ ଶ୍ରୀକୃଷ୍ଣଙ୍କୁ ମୁଁ ନମସ୍କାର କରେ।

Salutes Krishna as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki, the slayer of the tyrants Kamsa and Chanura, and the Jagadguru — teacher of the world.

ବାରମ୍ବାର ପଚରାଯାଉଥିବା ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ

ଏହି ପୃଷ୍ଠାରେ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ Vasudeva Sutam Devam ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଲିପିରେ ଦିଆଯାଇଛି — ସେହି ମୂଳ ଶ୍ଳୋକ, ଅକ୍ଷର-ଅକ୍ଷର ଲିପ୍ୟନ୍ତରିତ, ଯାହାଦ୍ୱାରା ଆପଣ ସହଜରେ ପଢ଼ି ଜପ କରିପାରିବେ। ଯେକୌଣସି ଧାଡ଼ି (କିମ୍ବା ▶ ବଟନ୍) ଛୁଇଁ ତାହାର ପାଠ ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ।
ହଁ — କେବଳ ଲିପି ବଦଳେ; ଶବ୍ଦ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଅର୍ଥ ମୂଳ ହିଁ ରହେ। ଏହି ପୃଷ୍ଠାର ଶ୍ଳୋକ-ଶ୍ଳୋକ ଅର୍ଥ, ଲାଭ ଓ ପାଠ ବିଧି ସମାନ ଭାବେ ପ୍ରଯୁଜ୍ୟ।
