In the eighteenth chapter, Moksha Sannyasa Yoga, as Krishna concludes His teaching on devotion and surrender, He assures Arjuna that with his mind fixed on the Lord he will cross all obstacles by grace, while warning that egoistic refusal to heed the teaching leads to ruin — a call to humble, mindful surrender.

અર્થ:मुझमें चित्त लगाने से तुम मेरी कृपा से समस्त कठिनाइयों को पार कर जाओगे; परन्तु यदि अहंकारवश तुम (इस उपदेश को) नहीं सुनोगे, तो तुम नष्ट हो जाओगे।

Chant this verse when obstacles or fears arise. As you recite, fix your mind on the Lord and trust His promise that by His grace you will cross over every difficulty. Let it dissolve egoistic anxiety and self-reliance, replacing them with humble dependence on God. It is especially powerful to recite before undertakings that feel daunting, invoking divine grace to remove obstacles.

Krishna promises that if Arjuna keeps his mind fixed on Him, he will overcome all obstacles by divine grace. He also warns that if Arjuna refuses to listen out of egoism, he will perish — contrasting grace-filled surrender with egoistic ruin.

'Mat-chittah' means 'with the mind fixed on Me' or 'ever conscious of Me'. Krishna teaches that keeping the mind absorbed in the Lord draws His grace, which carries the devotee safely past every difficulty.

Egoism (ahankara) makes one rely solely on oneself and refuse to heed divine wisdom. By closing the heart to the Lord's guidance and grace, the proud person loses the very help that could carry them through obstacles, and so comes to grief.

It is a reassuring promise that the Lord's grace can carry us over any obstacle when we keep our mind on Him. Reciting it in hard times fosters faith and surrender, reminding the devotee to depend on God rather than on ego alone.
