The Bhavani Bhujangam belongs to Adi Shankaracharya's celebrated 'Bhujangam' hymns, composed in the serpentine Bhujanga-prayata metre. Like the Soundarya Lahari, it fuses tender devotion with the esoteric science of Sri Vidya and Kundalini yoga: the poet traces the Goddess's presence from the root chakra up the Sushumna to the crown, praising her at once as the beautiful Mother and as the Para-Shakti beyond mind and speech. It closes with one of the most moving surrenders in Shakta literature.

The hymn itself declares its fruit: one who recites it daily with a settled, devoted mind 'conquers death, attains wisdom and prosperity, and in another body wins liberation.' Devotees cherish the seventeenth verse as a lifeline — calling Bhavani the only boat across the ocean of existence — and recount finding refuge and rescue in her grace through its constant repetition.

Meaning:12. मैं उसकी उपासना करता हूँ, जो वेदों का सदा भूषण है, तर्क से ग्राह्य किन्तु मन-वाणी के पथ से अतीत एवं अत्यन्त दूर है, निज-आनन्द का बीज है, सदा बुद्धि में निष्ठित है, निराकार है और ओंकार द्वारा गम्य है।

Meaning:13. मैं देदीप्यमान महायोगपीठ में, सहस्रार-कमल में, सदा भवानी का ध्यान करता हूँ — जो प्रबुद्ध, परा, चित्-शरीरा हैं और जो वहाँ शिव के साथ साम्य धारण किए विराजती हैं।

ඉදං යස්තු නිත්යං සමාධාය චිත්තං පඨේද්භක්තියුක්තෝ භවානීභුජඞ්ගම් . මෘත්යුං විජිත්යාපි මේධාං ශ්රියං සමාසාද්ය දේහාන්තරේ මුක්තිමේති .. 14..

Meaning:14. जो भक्तियुक्त होकर चित्त को एकाग्र कर नित्य इस भवानीभुजंग का पाठ करता है, वह मृत्यु को भी जीतकर मेधा एवं श्री प्राप्त करता है और देहान्त के पश्चात् मुक्ति को प्राप्त होता है।

කවිත්වං වාග්මිත්වමේධාදිකං ප්රසන්නා භවානී දදාත්යේව තස්මෛ . ඉදං ස්තෝත්රරාජං පඨන්ති ප්රකාමං නරා යේ නිතාන්තං ප්රසීදේන්මහේශී .. 15..

kavitvaṃ ca vāgmitvamedhādikaṃ ca prasannā bhavānī dadātyeva tasmai | idaṃ stotrarājaṃ paṭhanti prakāmaṃ narā ye nitāntaṃ prasīdenmaheśī || 15||

Meaning:15. प्रसन्न भवानी उसे कवित्व, वाग्मिता, मेधा आदि अवश्य प्रदान करती हैं। जो मनुष्य इस स्तोत्रराज का इच्छानुसार पाठ करते हैं, उन पर महेशी नितान्त प्रसन्न हों।

භවානි ත්වදීයාඞ්ඝ්රිසේවානුරක්තාන් ජනාන්පාහි කාරුණ්යපූර්ණෛඃ කටාක්ෂෛඃ . ජගන්මාතරස්මාදෘශාං පාමරාණාං ගතිස්ත්වං විනා නෛව ලෝකේ මදම්බ .. 16..

Meaning:17. हे भवानि! शरणागत मुझे शिव तक पहुँचाने वाली अपने पादाम्भोज की नौका प्रदान कीजिए, हे माता। आप संसार-सागर में डूबते को उद्धार करने में समर्थ हैं। हे भवानि! आप ही मेरी एकमात्र गति हैं, हे भवानि।

Recite the seventeen verses slowly with a composed, devoted mind (the hymn itself says it should be read 'samadhaya chittam' — with a settled mind). Follow the description from her feet upward through the chakras, visualising each form, and end in the spirit of surrender of the closing verses. It is traditionally recited daily; concluding with the final 'Bhavani tvam eka gatir me Bhavani' as a heartfelt prayer.
