The Mantra Matrika Pushpamala Stava is one of the most refined examples of manasa puja in the Sri Vidya tradition. Rather than describing the Goddess's beauty alone, it leads the worshipper step by step through the full ritual of Devi puja — but performed entirely in contemplation. Its deeper secret lies in its structure: the first letters of the verses are held to spell out the Panchadashi, the fifteen-syllable heart-mantra of Sri Vidya, so that to recite the garland is to silently invoke the mantra. For this reason it is treasured by upasakas as both a hymn and a meditative practice.

As told in scripture

The hymn's own concluding verses declare the fruit of its recitation: the worshipper who offers this garland of mantra-letters at the twilights each day attains a pure mind, has Saraswati dwelling upon his tongue and the world-blessing Lakshmi abiding in his home — the Mother Herself dancing in the lotus of his heart.

kallolollasitāmṛtābdhi-laharī-madhye virājanmaṇi- dvīpe kalpaka-vāṭikā-parivṛte kādamba-vāṭyujjvale | ratna-stambha-sahasra-nirmita-sabhā-madhye vimānottame cintāratna-vinirmitaṃ janani te siṃhāsanaṃ bhāvaye || 1||

Meaning:१. हे जननी! मैं चिन्तामणि से निर्मित तुम्हारे सिंहासन का ध्यान करता हूँ — जो अमृत-सागर की उत्ताल तरंगों के मध्य देदीप्यमान मणिद्वीप पर, कल्पवृक्ष एवं कदम्ब के उपवनों से घिरे, सहस्र रत्नस्तम्भों से निर्मित सभा के भीतर श्रेष्ठ विमान में स्थित है।

eṇāṅkānala-bhānu-maṇḍala-lasacchrīcakra-madhye sthitāṃ bālārka-dyuti-bhāsurāṃ karatalaiḥ pāśāṅkuśau bibhratīm | cāpaṃ bāṇam api prasanna-vadanāṃ kausumbha-vastrānvitāṃ tāṃ tvāṃ candra-kalāvataṃsa-makuṭāṃ cāru-smitāṃ bhāvaye || 2||

Meaning:२. मैं तुम्हारा ध्यान करता हूँ — जो चन्द्र, अग्नि एवं सूर्य के मण्डलों से दीप्त श्रीचक्र के मध्य विराजमान हो, उदित सूर्य-सी अरुण कान्ति वाली, हाथों में पाश, अंकुश, धनुष एवं बाण धारण किए, प्रसन्न मुख वाली, कुसुम्भ-वस्त्र पहने, चन्द्रकला से अलंकृत मुकुटधारिणी और मधुर मुस्कान वाली हो।

īśānādi-padaṃ śivaika-phaladaṃ ratnāsanaṃ te śubhaṃ pādyaṃ kuṅkuma-candanādi-bharitair arghyaṃ saratnākṣataiḥ | śuddhair ācamanīyakaṃ tava jalair bhaktyā mayā kalpitaṃ kāruṇyāmṛta-vāridhe tad akhilaṃ santuṣṭaye kalpatām || 3||

Meaning:३. ईशान पद पर स्थित, शिवरूपी एकमात्र फल देने वाला यह शुभ रत्नासन, कुंकुम-चन्दन से युक्त पाद्य, रत्न एवं अक्षत से अर्घ्य, और शुद्ध जल से आचमनीय — हे करुणामृत के सागर! भक्तिपूर्वक मेरे द्वारा कल्पित यह सब तुम्हारी सन्तुष्टि के लिए हो।

lakṣye yogi-janasya rakṣita-jagaj-jāle viśālekṣaṇe prāleyāmbu-paṭīra-kuṅkuma-lasat-karpūra-miśrodakaiḥ | go-kṣīrair api nālikera-salilaiḥ śuddhodakair mantritaiḥ snānaṃ devi dhiyā mayaitad akhilaṃ santuṣṭaye kalpatām || 4||

Meaning:४. हे विशाल नेत्रों वाली, योगिजनों के ध्येय, जगज्जाल की रक्षिके! हिम-शीतल चन्दन, कुंकुम एवं कर्पूर मिश्रित जल से, गोदुग्ध, नारिकेल-जल एवं अभिमन्त्रित शुद्ध जल से — मेरे द्वारा भावना से अर्पित यह स्नान सब तुम्हारी सन्तुष्टि के लिए हो।

hrīṅkārāṅkita-mantra-lakṣita-tano hemācalāt sañcitai- r ratnair ujjvalam uttarīya-sahitaṃ kausumbha-varṇāṃśukam | muktā-santati-yajña-sūtram amalaṃ sauvarṇa-tantūdbhavaṃ dattaṃ devi dhiyā mayaitad akhilaṃ santuṣṭaye kalpatām || 5||

Meaning:५. हे ह्रीङ्कारयुक्त मन्त्र से लक्षित स्वरूप वाली देवी! स्वर्णगिरि से संचित रत्नों से उज्ज्वल उत्तरीय सहित कुसुम्भ-वर्ण वस्त्र, और स्वर्णतन्तु से बना मुक्तामय निर्मल यज्ञोपवीत — मेरे द्वारा भावना से अर्पित यह सब तुम्हारी सन्तुष्टि के लिए हो।

haṃsair apy ati-lobhanīya-gamane hārāvalīm ujjvalāṃ hindola-dyuti-hīra-pūritatare hemāṅgade kaṅkaṇe | mañjīrau maṇi-kuṇḍale makuṭam apy ardhendu-cūḍāmaṇiṃ nāsā-mauktikam aṅgulīya-kaṭakau kāñcīm api svīkuru || 6||

Meaning:६. हे हंसों को भी लज्जित करने वाली गति वाली! उज्ज्वल हारावली, झूलते हीरों से भरे स्वर्ण-अंगद एवं कंगन, नूपुर, मणिकुण्डल, अर्धचन्द्र-चूड़ामणि युक्त मुकुट, नासा-मौक्तिक, अँगूठियाँ, कटक एवं काञ्ची — इन सबको स्वीकार करो।

sarvāṅge ghana-sāra-kuṅkuma-ghana-śrī-gandha-paṅkāṅkitaṃ kastūrī-tilakaṃ ca phāla-phalake gorocanā-patrakam | gaṇḍādarśana-maṇḍale nayanayor divyāñjanaṃ te'ñcitaṃ kaṇṭhābje mṛga-nābhi-paṅkam amalaṃ tvat-prītaye kalpatām || 7||

Meaning:७. कर्पूर, कुंकुम एवं श्रीगन्ध-चन्दन से तुम्हारे सर्वांग का लेपन, भालप्रदेश पर कस्तूरी-तिलक एवं गोरोचना-पत्र, दर्पण-सम कपोलों पर नेत्रों में दिव्य अंजन, और कण्ठ-कमल पर निर्मल मृगनाभि-पंक — यह सब तुम्हारी प्रीति के लिए हो।

kalhārotpala-mallikā-maruvakaiḥ sauvarṇa-paṅkeruhai- r jātī-campaka-mālatī-vakulakair mandāra-kundādibhiḥ | ketakyā karavīrakair bahu-vidhaiḥ kḷptāḥ srajo mālikāḥ saṅkalpena samarpayāmi varade santuṣṭaye gṛhyatām || 8||

Meaning:८. हे वरदे! कल्हार, उत्पल, मल्लिका, मरुवक, स्वर्ण-कमल, जाती, चम्पक, मालती, वकुल, मन्दार, कुन्द, केतकी एवं करवीर आदि अनेक पुष्पों से गूँथी मालाएँ मैं सङ्कल्प से अर्पित करता हूँ — तुम्हारी सन्तुष्टि के लिए ग्रहण करो।

hantāraṃ madanasya nandayasi yair aṅgair anaṅgojjvalai- r yair bhṛṅgāvali-nīla-kuntala-bharair badhnāsi tasyāśayam | tānīmāni tavāmba komalatarāṇy āmoda-līlā-gṛhā- ṇy āmodāya daśāṅga-guggulu-ghṛtair dhūpair ahaṃ dhūpaye || 9||

Meaning:९. हे अम्ब! जिन अनंग-दीप्त अंगों से तुम कामारि शिव को आनन्दित करती हो, और जिन भ्रमर-सम श्याम केशों से उनके चित्त को बाँधती हो — तुम्हारे उन कोमलतर सुगन्ध-लीलागृहों के आमोद हेतु मैं दशांग गुग्गुल एवं घृत के धूप अर्पित करता हूँ।

Meaning:१०. हे गिरिसुते! रत्नराशियों से देदीप्यमान तुम्हारे मन्दिर में, मणिमय स्तम्भों पर मालारूप में लटके, स्वर्ण-पुत्रिकाओं के हाथों में धारित, गोघृत से वर्धित विचित्र दिव्य दीप-समूहों से मैं भावना से लक्ष्मी (कान्ति) को उज्ज्वल करता हूँ — तुम्हारी सन्तुष्टि के लिए।

hrīṅkāreśvari tapta-hāṭaka-kṛtaiḥ sthālī-sahasrair bhṛtaṃ divyānnaṃ ghṛta-sūpa-śāka-bharitaṃ citrānna-bhedaṃ tathā | dugdhānnaṃ madhu-śarkarā-dadhi-yutaṃ māṇikya-pātre sthitaṃ māṣāpūpa-sahasram amba saphalaṃ naivedyam āvedaye || 11||

Meaning:११. हे ह्रीङ्कारेश्वरि! तप्त स्वर्ण के सहस्र पात्रों में भरे दिव्यान्न, घृत-सूप-शाक से युक्त, विविध चित्रान्न, मधु-शर्करा-दधि सहित माणिक्य-पात्र में स्थित दुग्धान्न, एवं सहस्र माष-अपूप — हे अम्ब! यह सफल नैवेद्य मैं निवेदित करता हूँ।

sacchāyair vara-ketakī-dala-rucā tāmbūla-vallī-dalaiḥ pūgair bhūri-guṇaiḥ sugandhi-madhuraiḥ karpūra-khaṇḍojjvalaiḥ | muktā-cūrṇa-virājitair bahu-vidhair vaktrāmbujāmodanaiḥ pūrṇā ratna-kalācikā tava mude nyastā purastād ume || 12||

Meaning:१२. हे उमे! सुन्दर केतकी-दल सी कान्ति वाले ताम्बूल-पत्र, अनेक गुणों वाले सुगन्धित-मधुर पूग, कर्पूर-खण्डों से उज्ज्वल, मुक्ताचूर्ण से सुशोभित, मुख-कमल को सुवासित करने वाले — इन अनेक भोग्यों से पूर्ण रत्नकलाचिका तुम्हारे आगे तुम्हारे आमोद के लिए रखी गई है।

kanyābhiḥ kamanīya-kāntibhir alaṅkārāmalārārtikāṃ pātre mauktika-citra-paṅkti-vilasat-karpūra-dīpāvaliḥ | uttat-tāla-mṛdaṅga-gīta-sahitaṃ nṛtyat-padāmbhoruhaṃ mantrārādhana-pūrvakaṃ suvihitaṃ nīrājanaṃ gṛhyatām || 13||

Meaning:१३. मन्त्र-आराधनापूर्वक भलीभाँति किया गया यह नीराजन ग्रहण करो — जिसे मनोहर कान्ति वाली कन्याएँ निर्मल आरार्तिका-पात्र, मुक्ता-पंक्तियों से दीप्त कर्पूर-दीपावली लिए, ताल-मृदंग-गीत सहित नृत्य करते हुए चरण-कमलों से करती हैं।

lakṣmīr mauktika-lakṣa-kalpita-sitacchatraṃ tu dhatte rasā- d indrāṇī ca ratiś ca cāmara-vare dhatte svayaṃ bhāratī | vīṇām eṇa-vilocanāḥ sumanasāṃ nṛtyanti tad-rāgava- d bhāvair āṅgika-sāttvikaiḥ sphuṭa-rasaṃ mātas tad ākarṇyatām || 14||

Meaning:१४. लक्ष्मी प्रेमपूर्वक लाख मोतियों से बना श्वेत छत्र धारण करती हैं; इन्द्राणी एवं रति श्रेष्ठ चामर ढुलाती हैं; भारती (सरस्वती) स्वयं वीणा बजाती हैं; और मृगनयनी देवांगनाएँ उस राग के अनुरूप आंगिक-सात्त्विक भावों से स्फुट रस के साथ नृत्य करती हैं — हे मात:! उसे सुनो।

hrīṅkāra-traya-sampuṭena manunopāsye trayī-maulibhi- r vākyair lakṣya-tano tava stuti-vidhau ko vā kṣametāmbike | sallāpāḥ stutayaḥ pradakṣiṇa-śataṃ sañcāra evāstu te saṃveśo namasaḥ sahasram akhilaṃ tvat-prītaye kalpatām || 15||

Meaning:१५. हे अम्बिके! त्रिविध ह्रीङ्कार से सम्पुटित मन्त्र से मैं उपासना करता हूँ; वेदान्त-वाक्यों से लक्षित स्वरूप वाली तुम्हारी स्तुति करने में कौन समर्थ है? मेरे वार्तालाप तुम्हारी स्तुतियाँ हों, मेरा भ्रमण सौ प्रदक्षिणाएँ हो, और मेरा शयन सहस्र नमस्कार — यह सब तुम्हारी प्रीति के लिए हो।

Meaning:१६. जो संयमी पुरुष प्रतिदिन सन्ध्याओं में इस मन्त्राक्षर-माला से चित्त में गिरिसुता की पूजा करता है, उसका मन निर्मल हो जाता है — उसके चित्त-कमल के मण्डप में गिरिसुता प्रेमपूर्वक नृत्य करती हैं, उसके मुख-कमल पर सरस्वती और उसके घर में जगन्मंगला लक्ष्मी निवास करती हैं।

iti giri-vara-putrī-pāda-rājīva-bhūṣā bhuvanam akhilam etat pātu mātṛ prasannā | śiva-pada-makaranda-syandinī iyaṃ nibaddhā madayatu kavi-bhṛṅgān mātṛkā-puṣpa-mālā || 17||

Meaning:१७. इस प्रकार गिरिराजपुत्री के चरण-कमलों का आभूषण, शिव-पद-मकरन्द को स्रवित करती हुई यह 'मातृकापुष्पमाला' — प्रसन्न जगन्माता इसके द्वारा इस समस्त संसार की रक्षा करें, और यह कवि-रूपी भ्रमरों को आनन्द से उन्मत्त करे।
