Vishwakarma is hailed in the Vedas and Puranas as the divine architect — the maker of the gods' weapons, palaces and chariots, and the very craftsman of the cosmos. This dhyana-stuti, used in Vishwakarma puja, visualises him not merely as an artisan but as the supreme creative power in a five-faced cosmic form, mirroring the great Lord, radiant like countless suns and compassionate to all. On Vishwakarma Jayanti, observed widely across India especially in industrial and craft communities, workers worship their tools, machines and instruments with this hymn, praying for skill, success and the removal of obstacles in their labour.

പഞ്ചവക്ത്രം ജടാജൂടം പഞ്ചാദശവിലോചനമ്। സദ്യോജാതാനനം ശ്വേതം വാമദേവം തു കൃഷ്ണകമ്॥
Pancha-vaktram jata-jutam panchadasha-vilochanam Sadyojataananam shvetam vamadevam tu krishnakam
അർഥം:उस विश्वकर्मा का ध्यान करना चाहिए, जिनके पाँच मुख, जटाजूट और पन्द्रह नेत्र हैं — सद्योजात मुख श्वेत, वामदेव मुख कृष्ण, अघोर मुख रक्त, तत्पुरुष मुख पीत तथा ईशान मुख श्याम वर्ण का है, और जिनका शरीर स्वर्ण के समान वर्ण वाला है।
അഘോരം രക്തവര്ണം തത്പുരുഷം പീതവര്ണകമ്। ഈശാനം ശ്യാമവര്ണം ച ശരീരം ഹേമവര്ണകമ്॥

അർഥം:वे दस भुजाओं एवं विशाल काय वाले, कर्णकुण्डलों से मण्डित, पीताम्बर धारी, पुष्पमाला एवं नाग-यज्ञोपवीत से युक्त हैं; रुद्राक्ष की माला और व्याघ्रचर्म का उत्तरीय धारण किए हुए, अक्षमाला, पद्म, नाग, शूल और पिनाक धारण करते हैं।
ദശബാഹും മഹാകായം കര്ണകുണ്ഡലമണ്ഡിതമ്। പീതാമ്ബരം പുഷ്പമാലം നാഗയജ്ഞോപവീതിനമ്॥
Dasha-bahum maha-kayam karna-kundala-manditam Pitambaram pushpa-malam naga-yajnopavitinam
അർഥം:वे अपने हाथों में डमरु, वीणा, बाण, शङ्ख और चक्र धारण करते हैं; करोड़ों सूर्यों के समान कान्तिमान् हैं और समस्त प्राणियों पर दया करने वाले हैं।
രുദ്രാക്ഷമാലാഭരണം വ്യാഘ്രചര്മോത്തരീയകമ്। അക്ഷമാലാം ച പദ്മം ച നാഗശൂലപിനാകിനമ്॥

അർഥം:समस्त विघ्नों की शान्ति के लिए उन देवदेव, महादेव, जगद्गुरु विश्वकर्मा का प्रसन्न मुख के साथ ध्यान करना चाहिए — जो अभीष्ट अर्थ की सिद्धि के लिए देवों द्वारा भी पूजित, समस्त विघ्नों के हर्ता, तथा सब अवज्ञा से रहित हैं।
ഡമരും വീണാം ബാണം ച ശങ്ഖചക്രകരാന്വിതമ്। കോടിസൂര്യപ്രതീകാശം സര്വജീവദയാപരമ്॥

അർഥം:प्रजा एवं भक्तजन अत्यन्त भक्तिपूर्वक उन्हें पुकारते हैं; सृष्टि के रचयिता उन विश्वकर्मा को नमस्कार है, जो ब्रह्म (जगत्) के हित के लिए कार्य करते हैं। ॐ विश्वकर्मा को नमस्कार है।
ദേവദേവം മഹാദേവം വിശ്വകര്മ ജഗദ്ഗുരുമ്। പ്രസന്നവദനം ധ്യായേത്സര്വവിഘ്നോപശാന്തയേ॥

श्री विश्वकर्मा स्तोत्रम् (ध्यान स्तुति) പാരായണ വിധി
After bathing, set up the image or picture of Vishwakarma along with the tools, instruments or machines to be blessed. Light a lamp and incense, and recite the dhyana-stuti with devotion, visualizing the Lord's five-faced, golden, ten-armed form as each line describes him. Offer flowers, fruit and sweets, and conclude with the mantra 'Om Vishwakarmaya Namah.' Artisans and workers traditionally worship their implements on this day before resuming work.
