Brihaspati is the Guru of the gods (Devaguru) and lord of the planet Jupiter — the giver of wisdom, righteousness, prosperity and good fortune. Worshipped especially on Thursdays alongside Lord Vishnu (whose day Thursday is), his aarti is sung with offerings of yellow — bananas, gram and jaggery — to win his benevolent grace.

A strong, pleased Brihaspati is said to bless a person with wisdom, a good marriage, worthy children and lasting prosperity. Devotees keep the Thursday fast, offer yellow items and bananas, and sing this aarti to strengthen Jupiter and win the Devaguru's grace.

অর্থ:Om, victory to you, Brihaspati Dev (Jupiter, the divine Guru); moment by moment I offer you bhog of bananas, fruit and dry fruits.
তুম পূরণ পরমাত্মা তুম অন্তর্যামী । জগতপিতা জগদীশ্বর তুম সবকে স্বামী ॥

অর্থ:You are the perfect Supreme Self, the indweller of all; father of the world, Lord of the universe, the master of all.
চরণামৃত নিজ নির্মল সব পাতক হর্তা । সকল মনোরথ দাযক কৃপা করো ভর্তা ॥
Charanamrita nija nirmala saba pataka harta Sakala manoratha dayaka kripa karo bharta
অর্থ:The nectar of your feet is pure and washes away every sin; granter of every wish — show your grace, O Lord.
ধন অর্পণ কর জো জন শরণ পড़ে । প্রভু প্রকট তব হোকর আকর দ্বার খড़ে ॥
Dhana arpana kara jo jana sharana pada़e Prabhu prakata taba hokara akara dvara khada़e
অর্থ:Whoever offers his wealth and falls at your refuge — the Lord then appears and stands manifest at his door.
দীনদযাল দযানিধি ভক্তন হিতকারী । পাপ দোষ সব হর্তা ভব বন্ধন হারী ॥
Dinadayala dayanidhi bhaktana hitakari Papa dosha saba harta bhava bandhana hari
অর্থ:Compassionate to the lowly, ocean of mercy, benefactor of devotees; remover of all sin and fault, breaker of worldly bondage.
সকল মনোরথ দাযক সব সংশয হারো । বিষয বিকার মিটাও সন্তন সুখকারী ॥
Sakala manoratha dayaka saba samshaya haro Vishaya vikara mitao santana sukhakari
অর্থ:Granter of every desire, dispeller of all doubt; destroy the cravings of the senses, O bringer of joy to the saints.
জো কোঈ আরতী তেরী প্রেম সহিত গাবে । জেঠানন্দ আনন্দকর সো নিশ্চয পাবে ॥
Jo koi arati teri prema sahita gave Jethananda anandakara so nishchaya pave
অর্থ:Whoever sings your aarti with love — Jethanand (the devotee), the giver of bliss, surely attains (his wish).
Brihaspati Dev Aarti পাঠের উপকারিতা
Sung to Brihaspati Dev (Guru / planet Jupiter), the preceptor of the gods, for wisdom, knowledge, prosperity and a strong Jupiter in the horoscope.
Chanted especially on Thursday (Guruvar / Brihaspativar), the day of Jupiter, for success in education, marriage, progeny and spiritual growth.
Traditionally performed with an offering of yellow items — banana, chana dal, jaggery and yellow flowers — Jupiter's auspicious colour.
Brihaspati Dev Aarti পাঠের নিয়ম
Light a lamp (ghee or camphor) and, holding it, perform the aarti by circling it before the deity while singing, ideally with a bell. Offer flowers and prasad, and conclude by taking the aarti blessing (passing the hands over the flame and to the eyes). Sing with devotion and a steady heart.
