The Chinmaya Lingashtakam is traditionally ascribed to Rudra. Eight verses to the Chinmaya Linga — the linga of pure consciousness — contemplating Shiva not as form but as the formless, all-pervading awareness that is the substance of the universe.

(ശ്രീരുദ്രകൃതമ്) ബ്രഹ്മമുഖാമരപൂജിതലിങ്ഗം ജിഹ്മഗഭൂഷണഭൂഷിതലിങ്ഗമ് । സിംഹമഹാമദമര്ദനലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൧॥ കനകധരാധരകാര്മുകലിങ്ഗം സനകമുഖാദിസുസന്നുതലിങ്ഗമ് । ദിനകരകോടിസുദീധിതിലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൨॥ അഷ്ടവിഭൂതിദമിഷ്ടദലിങ്ഗം സൃഷ്ടജഗത്ത്രയരക്ഷകലിങ്ഗമ് । അഷ്ടമഹാഭയശിക്ഷകലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൩॥ മത്തഗജാജിനവേഷ്ടിതലിങ്ഗം ദഗ്ധജഗത്കൃതപഞ്ചകലിങ്ഗമ് । ഉത്തമപൂരുഷവത്സലലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൪॥ അങ്ഗഭവാങ്ഗസുഭങ്ഗദലിങ്ഗം തുങ്ഗജടാഭരശോഭിതലിങ്ഗമ് । മങ്ഗലദായകമദ്ഭുതലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൫॥ പങ്കജനേത്രസമര്ചിതലിങ്ഗം ശങ്കരമാദിമമച്യുതലിങ്ഗമ് । സങ്കടദോഷനിവര്തകലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൬॥ അഭ്രസഭാന്തരനര്തനലിങ്ഗം ശുഭ്രവിഭൂതിവിഭൂഷിതലിങ്ഗമ് । ശുഭ്രഹൃദമ്ബുജശോഭിതലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൭॥ കുന്ദവനാന്തരമന്ദിരലിങ്ഗം മന്ദഹസാനനസുന്ദരലിങ്ഗമ് । വന്ദിതഭക്തജനാവൃതലിങ്ഗം ചിത്ത സദാ ഭജ ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗമ് ॥ ൮॥ രുദ്രകൃതാഷ്ടകമദ്ഭുതമേതദ്ഭദ്രകരം പഠതീഹ മനുഷ്യഃ । ഇഷ്ടഫലം സമവാപ്യ യഥേഷ്ടം ശിഷ്ടജനോത്തമ ഏവ ഹി സ സ്യാത് ॥ ൯॥ ഇതി ശ്രീരുദ്രകൃതം ചിന്മയലിങ്ഗാഷ്ടകം സമ്പൂര്ണമ് ।
(śrīrudrakṛtam) brahmamukhāmarapūjitaliṅgaṃ jihmagabhūṣaṇabhūṣitaliṅgam | siṃhamahāmadamardanaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 1|| kanakadharādharakārmukaliṅgaṃ sanakamukhādisusannutaliṅgam | dinakarakoṭisudīdhitiliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 2|| aṣṭavibhūtidamiṣṭadaliṅgaṃ sṛṣṭajagattrayarakṣakaliṅgam | aṣṭamahābhayaśikṣakaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 3|| mattagajājinaveṣṭitaliṅgaṃ dagdhajagatkṛtapañcakaliṅgam | uttamapūruṣavatsalaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 4|| aṅgabhavāṅgasubhaṅgadaliṅgaṃ tuṅgajaṭābharaśobhitaliṅgam | maṅgaladāyakamadbhutaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 5|| paṅkajanetrasamarcitaliṅgaṃ śaṅkaramādimamacyutaliṅgam | saṅkaṭadoṣanivartakaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 6|| abhrasabhāntaranartanaliṅgaṃ śubhravibhūtivibhūṣitaliṅgam | śubhrahṛdambujaśobhitaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 7|| kundavanāntaramandiraliṅgaṃ mandahasānanasundaraliṅgam | vanditabhaktajanāvṛtaliṅgaṃ citta sadā bhaja cinmayaliṅgam || 8|| rudrakṛtāṣṭakamadbhutametadbhadrakaraṃ paṭhatīha manuṣyaḥ | iṣṭaphalaṃ samavāpya yatheṣṭaṃ śiṣṭajanottama eva hi sa syāt || 9|| iti śrīrudrakṛtaṃ cinmayaliṅgāṣṭakaṃ sampūrṇam |

Chinmaya Lingashtakam പാരായണ വിധി
Bathe and sit facing east or north before an image of the deity. Light a lamp and recite the Chinmaya Lingashtakam slowly and with devotion. It may be chanted daily, or especially during Maha Shivaratri, Pradosh and the month of Shravan. Conclude with a prayer for grace and protection.
