Evam Bhagavati Devi Sa Nityapi — Complete Lyrics
Sanskrit text with English transliteration and translation
Verse 1
evaṃ bhagavatī devī sā nityāpi punaḥ punaḥ
sambhūya kurute bhūpa jagataḥ paripālanam
Thus that Bhagavati Devi, though eternal, again and again takes form and accomplishes the protection of the world, O King.
Verse 2
tayaitanmohyate viśvaṃ saiva viśvaṃ prasūyate
sā yācitā ca vijñānaṃ tuṣṭā ṛddhiṃ prayacchati
By her this universe is deluded; she herself brings forth the universe. Entreated, she bestows knowledge (vijnana); pleased, she grants prosperity (riddhi).
Verse 3
vyāptaṃ tayaitatsakalaṃ brahmāṇḍaṃ manujeśvara
mahādevyā mahākālī mahāmārīsvarūpayā
By her — the Mahadevi, of the form of Mahakali and Mahamari (the great pestilence) — this whole cosmic egg (brahmanda) is pervaded, O lord of men.
Verse 4
saiva kāle mahāmārī saiva sṛṣṭirbhavatyajā
sthitiṃ karoti bhūtānāṃ saiva kāle sanātanī
She herself, in due time, is the great pestilence; she herself is the unborn creation; and she herself, the eternal one, sustains beings in their time.
Verse 5
bhavakāle nṛṇāṃ saiva lakṣmīrvṛddhipradā gṛhe
saivābhāve tathālakṣmīrvināśāyopajāyate
In prosperity she is the Lakshmi who bestows increase in the homes of men; and in misfortune she becomes Alakshmi, arising for their ruin.
Verse 6
stutā sampūjitā puṣpairgandhadhūpādibhistathā
dadāti vittaṃ putrāṃśca matiṃ dharme gatiṃ śubhām
Praised and worshipped with flowers, perfume, incense and the like, she bestows wealth and offspring, a mind set on dharma, and an auspicious destiny.
