When Parvati asked Lord Shiva for an easy way to obtain the merit of reciting Vishnu's thousand names daily, Shiva revealed this verse: that simply delighting in the name of Rama equals the whole Sahasranama. The same verse closes the Ram Raksha Stotra, sealing it with the glory of Rama-nama.

Tradition celebrates the saint Valmiki, who attained enlightenment by repeating the name of Rama, and countless devotees who crossed the ocean of worldly existence through Rama-nama alone. Shiva's own assurance to Parvati that one utterance of 'Rama' equals a thousand names of Vishnu is held as proof of the unmatched power of this simple name.

ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਗਤੀ ਜਾਂ ▶ ਬਟਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣੋ

ਰਾਮਰਾਮੇਤਿ ਰਾਮੇਤਿ ਰਮੇ ਰਾਮੇ ਮਨੋਰਮੇ । ਸਹਸ੍ਰਨਾਮਤਤ੍ਤੁਲ੍ਯਂ ਰਾਮਨਾਮ ਵਰਾਨਨੇ ॥

ਅਰਥ:'Rama, Rama, Rama' — thus I take delight in the delightful, heart-enchanting Rama. O fair-faced one (Parvati), the name of Rama is equal to (chanting) the thousand names of Vishnu.

This verse is ideal for japa with a mala. Sit comfortably, settle the mind, and repeat it, dwelling on the sweetness of Rama's name. Many chant it 108 times daily. Because it equates Rama-nama with the thousand names of Vishnu, it can be recited when there is no time for the full Vishnu Sahasranamam or Ram Raksha Stotra.

It is spoken by Lord Shiva to Parvati and appears both at the end of the Vishnu Sahasranamam (the Ishvara uvacha verse) and as the closing verse (38) of the Ram Raksha Stotra.
It says that delighting in the name of Rama — repeating 'Rama, Rama' — is equal in merit to chanting the thousand names of Vishnu, declaring the supreme efficacy of Rama-nama.
