✦ ଅର୍ଥ
ଗଂ (ଗଂ) ବିଘ୍ନହର୍ତା ଓ ଆରମ୍ଭର ଅଧିପତି ଗଜମୁଖ ଭଗବାନ ଗଣେଶଙ୍କ ବୀଜମନ୍ତ୍ର। ସାଧାରଣତଃ 'ଓଁ ଗଂ ଗଣପତୟେ ନମଃ' ରୂପେ ଜପ କରାଯାଉଥିବା ଏହା ଯେକୌଣସି ନୂତନ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟର ଆରମ୍ଭରେ ବାଧା ଦୂର କରିବାକୁ ଓ ସଫଳତା ସୁନିଶ୍ଚିତ କରିବାକୁ ଆବାହନ କରାଯାଏ। ଏହା ପ୍ରତି ଉଦ୍ୟମରେ ବୁଦ୍ଧି, ସିଦ୍ଧି ଓ ଗଣପତିଙ୍କ ଶୁଭ କୃପା ଦିଏ।

Gam is the seed (beej) of Ganapati, the lord of the ganas. The Ganapati Atharvashirsha (Ganapati Upanishad) reveals the great Ganesha mantra and exalts Ganapati as the very Brahman and the foundation of all. Because Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and is invoked first in every rite, his beej 'Gam' became the universal opening sound — chanted before all undertakings so that the path may be cleared and blessed.

It is traditionally said that no obstacle can stand before the sincere chanting of 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namah', for Ganesha both places and removes hindrances according to dharma. Countless devotees report that invoking his seed-sound before a difficult task dissolved seemingly impossible barriers and turned the work to success.

ଅର୍ଥ:ଓଁ ଗଂ — ବିଘ୍ନହର୍ତା ଭଗବାନ ଗଣେଶଙ୍କ ବୀଜମନ୍ତ୍ରକୁ ମୁଁ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରେ। ଓଁ ଗଂ, ଗଣମାନଙ୍କ ଅଧିପତି ଗଣପତିଙ୍କୁ ନମସ୍କାର, ଯିଏ ଶୁଭ ଆରମ୍ଭ, ବୁଦ୍ଧି ଓ ସିଦ୍ଧି ଦିଅନ୍ତି।

Removes obstacles from every path — Gam is the seed of Vighnaharta; chanting it clears hindrances, delays and difficulties before any task.
Blesses new beginnings — Traditionally invoked at the start of journeys, projects, businesses, studies and ceremonies for an auspicious start.
Bestows wisdom and intellect — Ganesha is the lord of buddhi; his beej sharpens understanding, focus and sound decision-making.
Grants success and accomplishment — As the giver of siddhi, Gam supports the successful completion of endeavours great and small.
Brings auspiciousness and good fortune — Ganesha's grace fills undertakings with mangala (auspiciousness), smoothing the way ahead.
Steadies and protects the devotee — His presence is grounding and protective, calming anxiety and guarding against missteps.
गं बीज मंत्र (ॐ गं गणपतये नमः) ପାଠ ବିଧି
Sit facing east or north in a clean place before an image of Ganesha, with a lamp and ideally durva grass or a red flower. Settle the breath and chant 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namah' 108 times using a rudraksha mala. Pronounce 'Gam' clearly, letting the bindu hum. Chant it especially before starting anything new — a journey, a project, study or worship — to clear the way. Ganesha Chaturthi and Sankashti Chaturthi are the most powerful days, and a daily practice keeps obstacles at bay.
