The Sudarshana Chakra is the personified discus-weapon of Lord Vishnu, worshipped in the Pancharatra Agama tradition as a fierce protective deity (Sudarshana Murti / Chakrattazhwar) with sixteen arms, standing within a hexagram of flames. Its mantras are employed in the Sudarshana Homam, a fire ritual performed to destroy black magic, hostile spells, disease and danger. The seed 'Hum Phat' combines the armour and weapon bijas, making this one of the most powerful protective invocations in Vaishnava practice.

✦ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ କୁହାଯାଇଥିବା ପରି

Tradition holds that wherever the Sudarshana Chakra's mantra is invoked with faith, no spell, poison or weapon can prevail — for Vishnu sent the same discus to guard Ambarisha when the sage Durvasa's fiery curse pursued him, and the curse, unable to harm the devotee, returned to its sender. Devotees recite it to dissolve black magic and reverse harm directed at them.

ଅର୍ଥ:Om, salutations to the thousand-rayed Sudarshana — Hum Phat! Om, to Krishna, Govinda, the beloved of the cowherd folk, the Supreme Person and Supreme Self: destroy, O destroy every hostile spell, mystic diagram, occult rite, poison, missile and weapon directed against me, and release me, release me from death. Om, salutations to the great Sudarshana, blazing and wreathed in flames, who shakes and subdues evil in all directions — Hum Phat! To Brahman, the Supreme Light, svaha!

Bathe and sit facing east before an image of Lord Vishnu or the Sudarshana Chakra, lighting a ghee lamp. The short seed mantra 'Om Sahasrara Hum Phat' may be chanted 108 times on a tulsi or sphatika (crystal) mala for daily protection. The longer prayer is recited during Sudarshana Homam, performed by qualified priests to remove black magic, illness and grave obstacles. Visualise the blazing, thousand-spoked discus encircling and protecting you. Because of its fierce potency, the long form is best learnt and practised under proper guidance.

ଏହି ପୃଷ୍ଠାରେ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ Sudarshana Mantra (Om Sahasrara Hum Phat) ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଲିପିରେ ଦିଆଯାଇଛି — ସେହି ମୂଳ ଶ୍ଳୋକ, ଅକ୍ଷର-ଅକ୍ଷର ଲିପ୍ୟନ୍ତରିତ, ଯାହାଦ୍ୱାରା ଆପଣ ସହଜରେ ପଢ଼ି ଜପ କରିପାରିବେ। ଯେକୌଣସି ଧାଡ଼ି (କିମ୍ବା ▶ ବଟନ୍) ଛୁଇଁ ତାହାର ପାଠ ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ।
ହଁ — କେବଳ ଲିପି ବଦଳେ; ଶବ୍ଦ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଅର୍ଥ ମୂଳ ହିଁ ରହେ। ଏହି ପୃଷ୍ଠାର ଶ୍ଳୋକ-ଶ୍ଳୋକ ଅର୍ଥ, ଲାଭ ଓ ପାଠ ବିଧି ସମାନ ଭାବେ ପ୍ରଯୁଜ୍ୟ।
It is the core seed mantra of the Sudarshana Chakra. 'Sahasrara' means the thousand-spoked (thousand-rayed) discus; 'Hum' is the Kavacha or armour bija that ignites protective power; and 'Phat' is the Astra or weapon bija that strikes down and destroys all negativity. Together they invoke Vishnu's discus as an instant shield and weapon.
The Sudarshana Chakra is the spinning, flaming discus held by Lord Vishnu (and Krishna), depicted with a thousand sharp spokes. It is regarded as a living deity and the supreme weapon that protects the cosmos and the devotee, cutting through evil, ignorance and danger in all directions.
It is chanted primarily for powerful protection — against black magic, curses, hostile spells, the evil eye, enemies, poisons and grave dangers — and for healing serious illness. It is the central mantra of the Sudarshana Homam performed to clear negativity from a person, home or family.
The short bija 'Om Sahasrara Hum Phat' can be chanted by anyone with devotion for daily protection. The longer commanding mantra, used in homam, is very potent and is traditionally practised under the guidance of a knowledgeable teacher or priest, with proper procedure.
