Origin & Story
Traditional Braj devotional aarti (Aarti Sangrah), sung in the temples of Barsana and Vrindavan · Traditional / Anonymous · Medieval to modern (within the Vaishnava Bhakti tradition)
Shri Radha, born to King Vrishabhanu and Mother Kirti in Barsana, is the eternal beloved of Lord Krishna and the supreme embodiment of devotional love in the Braj tradition. This aarti, sung at her temples in Barsana and Vrindavan, celebrates her divine beauty and her place as the queen of the Raas-leela, and expresses the Braj devotee's longing for the joint darshan of Radha and Krishna.
✦ As told in scripture
It is lovingly told in Braj that Krishna runs to wherever the name and aarti of Radha are sung, for he is bound by her love; thus devotees believe that by glorifying Radha first, the grace of Krishna follows of its own accord.
