Shri Radha, born to King Vrishabhanu and Mother Kirti in Barsana, is the eternal beloved of Lord Krishna and the supreme embodiment of devotional love in the Braj tradition. This aarti, sung at her temples in Barsana and Vrindavan, celebrates her divine beauty and her place as the queen of the Raas-leela, and expresses the Braj devotee's longing for the joint darshan of Radha and Krishna.

It is lovingly told in Braj that Krishna runs to wherever the name and aarti of Radha are sung, for he is bound by her love; thus devotees believe that by glorifying Radha first, the grace of Krishna follows of its own accord.

అర్థం:This is the aarti of Shri Radha, the daughter of King Vrishabhanu, the cherished daughter of Mother Kirti — to the revered Radhika.

శుభ జన్మీ వృషభాను-దులారీ । నిత్య కిశోరీ శ్యామ-ప్యారీ ॥ వృన్దావన కీ రాసేశ్వరీ జూ కీ । ఆరతీ శ్రీ వృషభాను-సుతా కీ ॥

అర్థం:Blessedly born as the darling of Vrishabhanu, the ever-youthful maiden and beloved of Shyama (Krishna), the queen of the Raas dance of Vrindavan.

శ్లోకం 3

గౌర-వరణ తన సున్దర సోహే । నయన కమల త్రిభువన-మన మోహే ॥ ముఖ కీ శోభా చన్ద్ర-విభా కీ । ఆరతీ శ్రీ వృషభాను-సుతా కీ ॥

అర్థం:Her fair, golden form is exquisitely beautiful; her lotus eyes enchant the hearts of all three worlds, and her face shines with the radiance of the moon.

నీల-వసన తన పీత-దుపట్టా । కంచన-థాల బిరాజత ఝట్టా ॥ మణి-మయ భూషణ దేహ సజా కీ । ఆరతీ శ్రీ వృషభాను-సుతా కీ ॥

అర్థం:Clad in blue garments with a yellow scarf, with a golden tray waved before her, her body adorned with jewel-studded ornaments.

శ్యామ-ప్రియా తుమ జగ-హితకారీ । రాస-విలాసిని బనవారీ-ప్యారీ ॥ బ్రజ-జన-వల్లభ సుఖ-దాత్రీ జూ కీ । ఆరతీ శ్రీ వృషభాను-సుతా కీ ॥

అర్థం:O beloved of Krishna, you are the benefactress of the world; you are the queen of the Raas-leela, dear to the Wielder of the forest-garland; beloved of all Braj-folk and the bestower of joy.

Offer this aarti before an image or idol of Shri Radha (or Radha-Krishna together) with a lit ghee or camphor lamp on a golden or brass tray. Sing with devotion while circling the lamp clockwise, ideally with a bell. Offer flowers, tulsi, sweets and the chanting of 'Radhe Radhe'. Conclude by taking the aarti flame's blessing and praying for the boon of loving devotion.

Radha is the daughter of King Vrishabhanu and Mother Kirti of Barsana, and the eternal consort and beloved of Lord Krishna. In the Bhakti tradition she is revered as Hladini Shakti — the very embodiment of Krishna's bliss and the highest ideal of pure, selfless love (prema).

In Braj it is customary to say 'Radhe Radhe' and to honour Radha first, because she personifies devotion itself. It is believed that Krishna is most easily pleased and most readily approached through the grace and recommendation of Radha Rani.

It is sung daily in the temples of Barsana and Vrindavan, and with the greatest devotion on Radhashtami — the appearance day of Shri Radha — which falls on the eighth day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada month.

Tradition holds that one who lovingly sings Radha's aarti receives the joint darshan of Radha and Krishna and is blessed with prema-bhakti — pure, unconditional devotion — which is considered the highest goal of the Braj tradition.
