Verse 1
मङ्गलं कौशलेन्द्राय महनीयगुणाब्धये ।
चक्रवर्तितनूजाय सार्वभौमाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १॥
Mangalam Kaushalendraya Mahaniyaguṇabdhaye |
Chakravartitanujaya Sarvabhaumaya Mangalam || 1||
May there be auspiciousness to the Lord of Kosala, the ocean of adorable virtues; auspiciousness to the son of the emperor, the universal sovereign.
Verse 2
वेदवेदान्तवेद्याय मेघश्यामलमूर्तये ।
पुंसां मोहनरूपाय पुण्यश्लोकाय मङ्गलम् ॥ २॥
Veda-Vedanta-Vedyaya Meghashyamalamurtaye |
Pumsam Mohanarupaya Punyashlokaya Mangalam || 2||
May there be auspiciousness to the one knowable through the Vedas and Vedanta, dark-hued like a rain cloud, the enchanter of all hearts, whose praise is ever sacred.
Verse 3
विश्वामित्रान्तरङ्गाय मिथिलानगरीपतेः ।
भाग्यानां परिपाकाय भव्यरूपाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ३॥
Vishvamitrantarangaya Mithilanagaripateh |
Bhagyanam Paripakaya Bhavyarupaya Mangalam || 3||
May there be auspiciousness to the beloved of Vishvamitra, the fruition of Mithila's good fortune, of resplendent form.
Verse 4
पितृभक्ताय सततं भ्रातृभिः सह सीतया ।
नन्दिताखिललोकाय रामभद्राय मङ्गलम् ॥ ४॥
Pitribhaktaya Satatam Bhratribhih Saha Sitaya |
Nanditakhilalokaya Ramabhadraya Mangalam || 4||
May there be auspiciousness to Ramabhadra, ever devoted to his father, who, with his brothers and Sita, gladdened the whole world.
Verse 5
त्यक्तसाकेतवासाय चित्रकूटविहारिणे ।
सेव्याय सर्वयमिनां धीरोदयाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ५॥
Tyaktasaketavasaya Chitrakutaviharine |
Sevyaya Sarvayaminam Dhirodayaya Mangalam || 5||
May there be auspiciousness to the one who left his abode in Saketa to wander in Chitrakuta, served by all sages, of unshakeable valour.
Verse 6
सौमित्रिणा च जानक्या चापबाणासिधारिणे ।
संसेव्याय सदा भक्त्या स्वामिने मम मङ्गलम् ॥ ६॥
Saumitrina Cha Janakya Chapabaṇasidharine |
Samsevyaya Sada Bhaktya Svamine Mama Mangalam || 6||
May there be auspiciousness to my Lord, who bears the bow, arrow and sword along with Lakshmana and Janaki, ever to be devoutly served.
Verse 7
दण्डकारण्यवासाय खरदूषणशत्रवे ।
गृध्रराजाय भक्ताय मुक्तिदायास्तु मङ्गलम् ॥ ७॥
Dandakaranyavasaya Kharadushanashatrave |
Gridhrarajaya Bhaktaya Muktidayastu Mangalam || 7||
May there be auspiciousness to the dweller of the Dandaka forest, the enemy of Khara and Dushana, the giver of liberation to his devotee Jatayu, the king of vultures.
Verse 8
सादरं शबरीदत्तफलमूलाभिलाषिणे ।
सौलभ्यपरिपूर्णाय सत्त्वोद्रिक्ताय मङ्गलम् ॥ ८॥
Sadaram Shabaridatta-Phalamulabhilashine |
Saulabhyaparipurnaya Sattvodriktaya Mangalam || 8||
May there be auspiciousness to the one who lovingly relished the fruits offered by Shabari, perfect in accessibility, abounding in goodness.
Verse 9
हनुमत्समवेताय हरीशाभीष्टदायिने ।
बालिप्रमथनायास्तु महाधीराय मङ्गलम् ॥ ९॥
Hanumat-Samavetaya Harishabhishtadayine |
Balipramathanayastu Mahadhiraya Mangalam || 9||
May there be auspiciousness to the great hero who, joined with Hanuman, fulfilled the wishes of Sugriva and destroyed Vali.
Verse 10
श्रीमते रघुवीराय सेतूल्लङ्घितसिन्धवे ।
जितराक्षसराजाय रणधीराय मङ्गलम् ॥ १०॥
Shrimate Raghuviraya Setullanghitasindhave |
Jitarakshasarajaya Ranadhiraya Mangalam || 10||
May there be auspiciousness to the glorious hero of the Raghus, who crossed the ocean by a bridge, conquered the demon-king, and was steadfast in battle.
Verse 11
विभीषणकृते प्रीत्या लङ्काभीष्टप्रदायिने ।
सर्वलोकशरण्याय श्रीराघवाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ११॥
Vibhishanakrite Pritya Lankabhishtapradayine |
Sarvalokasharanyaya Shriraghavaya Mangalam || 11||
May there be auspiciousness to Sri Raghava, who out of love granted Vibhishana his desire over Lanka, the refuge of all the worlds.
Verse 12
आसाद्य नगरीं दिव्यामभिषिक्ताय सीतया ।
राजाधिराजराजाय रामभद्राय मङ्गलम् ॥ १२॥
Asadya Nagarim Divyam-Abhishiktaya Sitaya |
Rajadhirajarajaya Ramabhadraya Mangalam || 12||
May there be auspiciousness to Ramabhadra, who, reaching his divine city, was crowned along with Sita, the king of kings of kings.
Verse 13
ब्रह्मादिदेवसेव्याय ब्रह्मण्याय महात्मने ।
जानकीप्राणनाथाय रघुनाथाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १३॥
Brahmadidevasevyaya Brahmanyaya Mahatmane |
Janakipranganathaya Raghunathaya Mangalam || 13||
May there be auspiciousness to Raghunatha, served by Brahma and the gods, the protector of the devout, the great soul, the Lord of Janaki's life.
Verse 14
श्रीसौम्यजामातृमुनेः कृपयास्मानुपेयुषे ।
महते मम नाथाय रघुनाथाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १४॥
Shri-Saumyajamatrimuneh Kripayasmanupeyushe |
Mahate Mama Nathaya Raghunathaya Mangalam || 14||
May there be auspiciousness to Raghunatha, my great Lord, who by the grace of Saumya-Jamatri-Muni has come to accept us.
Verse 15
मङ्गलाशासनपरैर्मदाचार्यपुरोगमैः ।
सर्वैश्च पूर्वैराचार्यैः सत्कृतायास्तु मङ्गलम् ॥ १५॥
Mangalashasanaparair-Madacharya-Purogamaih |
Sarvaishcha Purvairacharyaih Satkritayastu Mangalam || 15||
May there be auspiciousness to the one honoured by all the earlier acharyas, foremost among them my own teacher, intent on offering this benediction.
Verse 16
रम्यजामातृमुनिना मङ्गलाशासनं कृतम् ।
त्रैलोक्याधिपतिः श्रीमान् करोतु मङ्गलं सदा ॥ १६॥
Ramyajamatrimunina Mangalashasanam Kritam |
Trailokyadhipatih Shriman Karotu Mangalam Sada || 16||
This benediction (Mangalashasanam) was composed by the sage Ramya-Jamatri-Muni; may the glorious Lord of the three worlds ever bestow auspiciousness.
