Sheetla Mata, 'the cool one,' is the Goddess (a form of Durga) who both wards off and heals fevers, pox and epidemic diseases — riding a donkey and bearing a broom, winnow, pot and neem leaves. On Sheetla Ashtami (Basoda), devotees offer her cooling, day-before food and worship her for the health and protection of their children and homes.

It is said that those stricken with fever, pox or skin disease who take Sheetla Mata's refuge are healed — even the leper made pure and the blind given sight. On Basoda, no fresh fire is lit; cool food prepared the day before is offered, and this aarti is sung for the family's health.

Meaning:રત્નજડિત સિંહાસન પર શોભતાં, શ્વેત છત્ર ઝળહળતું; ઋદ્ધિ-સિદ્ધિ ચામર ઢોળે, આપની છબી ઝગમગે છે.

Meaning:ઘંટ, શંખ અને શરણાઈ વાગે છે, મનને ગમે છે; ભક્તજનો આરતી કરે છે, આપને જોઈ જોઈ હર્ષાય છે.

බ්රහ්මරූප වරදානී තූ හී තීන කාල ජ්ඤාතා . භක්තන කෝ සුඛ දේතී මාතු පිතා භ්රාතා ..

Meaning:બ્રહ્મરૂપા, વરદાયિની, આપ ત્રણેય કાળનાં જ્ઞાતા છો; ભક્તોને માતા, પિતા અને ભ્રાતા સમાન સુખ આપો છો.

Meaning:જે પ્રેમથી આપમાં મન લગાવે છે તે શક્તિ પામે છે; તે સર્વ મનોરથ પામે છે અને ભવસાગર તરી જાય છે.

රෝගෝං සේ ජෝ පීඩ़ිත කෝඊ ශරණ තේරී ආතා . කෝඪ़ී පාවේ නිර්මල කායා අන්ධ නේත්ර පාතා ..

Meaning:જે રોગથી પીડિત આપની શરણે આવે છે — કોઢી નિર્મળ કાયા પામે છે અને અંધ નેત્ર પામે છે.

බාංඣ පුත්ර කෝ පාවේ දාරිද්ර කට ජාතා . තාකෝ භජෛ ජෝ නාහීං සිර ධුනි පඡතාතා ..

Banjha putra ko pave daridra kata jata Tako bhajai jo nahim sira dhuni pachhatata

Meaning:વાંઝણી પુત્ર પામે છે અને દરિદ્રતા કપાઈ જાય છે; જે આપને નથી ભજતો તે માથું કૂટી પસ્તાય છે.

ශීතල කරතී ජනනී තූ හී හෛ ජග ත්රාතා . උත්පත්ති ව්යාධි බිනාශන තූ සබ කී ඝාතා ..
