Rigveda 10.103 · Rishi Apratiratha Aindra (and Vihavya), of the line of Indra · Vedic period (c. 1500–1200 BCE)

This hymn belongs to the tenth Mandala of the Rigveda and is traditionally ascribed to the seer Apratiratha, 'the one without a rival in battle'. It is a war-song par excellence, exhorting warriors to fight under the banner of Indra, the invincible champion, supported by Brihaspati and the Maruts. In later tradition it is grouped among the hymns recited for victory, protection and the routing of enemies, and is associated with martial and royal rites.

Meaning:वह बाण हाथ में लिए, तरकश धारियों के साथ, वशी (नियन्ता); वह युद्ध को संगठित करने वाला, अपने गण सहित इन्द्र; समीप युद्ध में विजयी, सोमपान करने वाला, बलिष्ठ भुजाओं वाला, उग्र धनुष वाला, सटीक बाणों से प्रहार करने वाला।

Meaning:हे बृहस्पति! अपने रथ से हमारे चारों ओर उड़ो, राक्षसों का संहार करते और शत्रुओं को दूर भगाते हुए; उनकी सेनाओं को तोड़ते, युद्ध में कुचलते, विजयी होते हुए — हमारे रथों (सेनाओं) के रक्षक बनो।

Meaning:इन्द्र हमारी इन सेनाओं के नेता हों; बृहस्पति, दक्षिणा, यज्ञ और सोम आगे चलें; और शत्रुओं को तोड़ने तथा विजय पाने वाली देव-सेनाओं के अग्रभाग में मरुत् गण चलें।
