Yamuna, the daughter of Surya and sister of Yama, descended to earth as a holy river and became intimately linked with the life of Lord Krishna in Braj. Within the Pushtimarg tradition of Vallabhacharya, Yamuna (Shri Yamunaji) is revered as a divine goddess and the bestower of Krishna-bhakti. This aarti is sung at her ghats in Mathura and Vrindavan to honour her as the purifier of sins and the loving mother of Braj.

It is traditionally held that because Yamuna is the sister of Yama, the lord of death, those who bathe in her waters and sing her praises with devotion are released from the fear of death and the punishments of Yamaloka; her dark waters are said to dissolve the sins of countless lifetimes.

అర్థం:आपके पिता सूर्य देव और माता छाया हैं; यमराज आपके सहोदर भाई हैं और आप श्रीकृष्ण की प्रिया हैं।
శ్యామ-వరణ జల శోభిత, మన్ద-మన్ద బహతీ । కల-కల ధ్వని కరతీ హుఈ, భక్తన సుఖ దేతీ ॥ ఓం జయ యమునా మాతా ॥
Shyama-varana jala shobhita, manda-manda bahati Kala-kala dhvani karati hui, bhaktana sukha deti Om Jai Yamuna Mata
అర్థం:आपका श्यामवर्ण जल मन्द-मन्द बहता है, मधुर कल-कल ध्वनि करता हुआ भक्तों को सुख देता है।
కాలిన్దీ కలి-నాశిని, కష్ట నివారణీ । పాప-తాప సబ హరతీ, భవ-బన్ధన హారిణీ ॥ ఓం జయ యమునా మాతా ॥
Kalindi kali-naashini, kashta nivaarani Paapa-taapa saba harati, bhava-bandhana haarini Om Jai Yamuna Mata
అర్థం:हे कालिन्दी, कलियुग के पापों का नाश करने वाली और कष्ट दूर करने वाली, आप समस्त पाप-ताप हर लेती हैं और भव-बन्धन से मुक्त करती हैं।
తీరథరాజ ప్రయాగే, గంగా-సంగ మిలతీ । త్రివేణీ సఙ్గమ బనకర, సబకో తారతీ ॥ ఓం జయ యమునా మాతా ॥
Teeratha-raaja Prayaage, Ganga-sanga milati Triveni sangama banakara, sabako taarati Om Jai Yamuna Mata
అర్థం:तीर्थराज प्रयाग में आप माँ गंगा से मिलती हैं और त्रिवेणी संगम बनकर सबको भवसागर से तार देती हैं।
వృన్దావన కీ శోభా, బ్రజ-రజ సే న్యారీ । కృష్ణ-కన్హైయా ఖేలే, తేరే తట ప్యారీ ॥ ఓం జయ యమునా మాతా ॥
Vrindavana ki shobha, braja-raja se nyaari Krishna-Kanhaiya khele, tere tata pyaari Om Jai Yamuna Mata
అర్థం:आप वृन्दावन की शोभा हैं, ब्रज की रज से भी अधिक प्यारी, क्योंकि कृष्ण-कन्हैया ने आपके तट पर लीलाएँ कीं, हे प्यारी माता।
జో జన యమునా-ఆరతీ, ప్రేమ-సహిత గావే । యమ కా త్రాస న హోవే, మనవాంఛిత పావే ॥ ఓం జయ యమునా మాతా, మైయా జయ యమునా మాతా ॥
Jo jana Yamuna-aarti, prema-sahita gaave Yama ka traasa na hove, manavaanchhita paave Om Jai Yamuna Mata, Maiya Jai Yamuna Mata
అర్థం:जो भी प्रेमपूर्वक यमुना जी की यह आरती गाता है, वह यम के भय से मुक्त होकर मनवांछित फल पाता है।

श्री यमुना जी की आरती పారాయణ విధి
Light a ghee or camphor lamp and offer the aarti while facing the river or an image of Yamuna Maiya. Sing the hymn with devotion, circling the lamp clockwise, ideally accompanied by a bell. On the banks of the Yamuna, devotees offer the lamp to the flowing water (deepdaan). Conclude by taking the aarti flame's blessing and praying for purity and freedom from sin.
