In the second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, the Sankhya Yoga, Lord Krishna lifts Arjuna out of his despondency on the battlefield by teaching the path of selfless action. In this verse he gives the essence of Karma Yoga — to act while remaining steadfast in yoga, free of attachment, even-minded in success and failure — and defines this equanimity as yoga itself.

ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ

Devotees and seekers hold that one who truly lives this verse becomes unshakeable — performing every duty wholeheartedly yet untouched by anxiety, for the mind that rests in equanimity is no longer tossed by gain or loss, victory or defeat.

ಮಂತ್ರ

ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಾಲನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ▶ ಬಟನ್ ಒತ್ತಿ ಕೇಳಿ

ಯೋಗಸ್ಥಃ ಕುರು ಕರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಸಙ್ಗಂ ತ್ಯಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಧನಞ್ಜಯ। ಸಿದ್ಧ್ಯಸಿದ್ಧ್ಯೋಃ ಸಮೋ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ಸಮತ್ವಂ ಯೋಗ ಉಚ್ಯತೇ॥

yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga uchyate

ಅರ್ಥ:हे धनंजय आसक्ति को त्याग कर तथा सिद्धि और असिद्धि में समभाव होकर योग में स्थित हुये तुम कर्म करो। यह समभाव ही योग कहलाता है।।

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि ಪಾರಾಯಣದ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಗಳು

The foundational verse of Karma Yoga — teaches how to act without anxiety over success or failure.

Cultivates samatvam (equanimity), the steady evenness of mind that the Gita calls yoga itself.

Frees the mind from attachment to results, reducing stress, fear and restlessness in work.

Recited for guidance before any important task, duty or decision, to act with a balanced heart.

Contemplated daily to remain centred and unshaken amid the ups and downs of life.

Recite the verse calmly, reflecting on its meaning, and resolve to act with full effort while letting go of attachment to the outcome. It is often contemplated before starting work or making decisions, as a reminder to keep the mind even in success and failure.

ಪದೇ ಪದೇ ಕೇಳುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು

ಈ ಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि ಕನ್ನಡ ಲಿಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ — ಅವೇ ಮೂಲ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು, ಅಕ್ಷರ-ಅಕ್ಷರ ಲಿಪ್ಯಂತರಗೊಂಡು, ನೀವು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಓದಿ ಪಠಿಸಬಹುದು. ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಾಲನ್ನು (ಅಥವಾ ▶ ಬಟನ್) ಒತ್ತಿ ಅದರ ಪಠಣ ಕೇಳಿ.
ಹೌದು — ಲಿಪಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ; ಪದಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳ ಅರ್ಥ ಮೂಲವೇ. ಈ ಪುಟದ ಶ್ಲೋಕ-ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅರ್ಥ, ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಗಳು, ಪಾರಾಯಣ ವಿಧಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
From Bhagavad Gita 2.48, it means: 'Perform action, O Arjuna, being steadfast in Yoga, abandoning attachment and balanced in success and failure; evenness of mind is called Yoga.' It is Krishna's core teaching of Karma Yoga — acting without attachment to results.
It means 'equanimity (evenness of mind) is called yoga.' Krishna defines yoga here not as a posture but as an inner state of balance — remaining the same in success and failure, gain and loss, while performing one's duty.
Do your work and duties with full sincerity and effort, but release your grip on the outcome. Treat success and failure with the same calm acceptance. This steady, even-minded attitude turns ordinary action into yoga.
