Born a Rajput princess, Meera Bai forsook royal life and convention for her love of Krishna, whom she called Giridhar Gopal. In this pada she renounces family ties and the fear of public censure, choosing the company of saints and the coarse cloth of a renunciate. The 'creeper of love' watered by her tears is one of the most cherished images in Hindi bhakti poetry.

Meaning:Giridhar Gopal alone is mine — there is no other. He who wears the peacock-feather crown, he alone is my Lord.
