Guru (Jupiter) Mahadasha
गुरु महादशा
The Guru Mahadasha is sixteen years under the great benefic — Jupiter, lord of wisdom, dharma, children, wealth and grace. Classically it is the most protective of all periods: life expands through knowledge, marriage and children, property, teachers and faith. Even its difficulties tend to arrive with a cushion.
✨ When Jupiter is strong
With Jupiter strong (own signs Sagittarius/Pisces, exalted in Cancer), these years bring the milestone blessings — marriage, childbirth, home purchase, promotions into respected positions, success in teaching, law, finance, counselling or religious life, and a deepening of faith and generosity. Money grows, but the real gift is judgement: choices made in Guru's years tend to age well.
🌑 When Jupiter is afflicted
A weak or debilitated Jupiter (Capricorn) can under-deliver: delays in marriage or children, misplaced trust in gurus or advisers, weight and liver issues, and a complacent optimism that overlooks details. The period stays kind by Jupiter's nature, but its promises then need patience and effort to materialise.
