In Chapter 4 of the Devi Mahatmya, after the Goddess slays Mahishasura, Indra and the gods sing the Shakradi Stuti. Beyond praising her valour, they extol her transcendent nature; in this verse they honour her as the supreme Vidya, the cause of liberation, upon whom self-controlled, fault-free sages meditate to attain moksha.

Teachers of the Shakta path say that whoever takes this verse as a guiding ideal — controlling the senses, dwelling in truth and worshipping the Devi as Para Vidya — is gradually led by her grace from worldly bondage toward the freedom of moksha.

অর্থ:You who are the cause of liberation, of inconceivable great vow (mahavrata), are meditated upon by liberation-seeking sages of well-controlled senses, who have grasped the essence of truth and shed all faults; you are that supreme Vidya, the Bhagavati, O Devi.

Sit in a clean, quiet place facing east before an image of Durga. With senses gathered and mind calm, recite this verse slowly, contemplating the Goddess as the supreme Knowledge that liberates. Recite 11 or 108 times, or chant it within a full reading of Durga Saptashati Chapter 4, sealing the practice with a moment of silent meditation on Bhagavati.
