Tallapaka sankirtana of Annamacharya, popularly in raga Hindolam, Adi tala (Telugu, 15th century CE) · Saint Annamacharya (Annamayya) · 1408-1503 CE
Annamayya, the designated songmaster of the Tirumala temple, sang one sankirtana to the Lord every day. In this kirtana he gathers the temple's own legends — the potter Kuruva Nambi whose devotion the Lord rewarded, the Tondaman king who built shrines and fought for him, Anantalvar whose garden-trenches the Lord helped dig, Tirumala Nambi who told him Ramayana, and Tirukachchi Nambi summoned from Kanchi — to show that the Lord on the hill lives among his servants.
✦ શાસ્ત્રોમાં કહ્યા પ્રમાણે
Legend tells that when Anantalvar dug the temple garden and his pregnant wife carried earth, the Lord himself came as a small boy to carry her basket — and took a blow from the Alvar's crowbar that marks the Lord's chin to this day (the sandalwood applied there is called the 'gaddapu chandanam'). This kirtana sings of that very Lord who labours for love of his devotees.

અર્થ:वह कोनेरु — पवित्र पुष्करिणी — का राजा है, जिसने पहाड़ियों के बीच अपना वास बनाया है; और वह मुट्ठियाँ भर-भरकर पहाड़ों-जितने वरदान लुटाता है।

kummara dāsuḍaina kuruvarati nambi immanna varamulella iccinavāḍu । dommulu sēsina yaṭṭi toṇḍamān cakkuravarti rammanna cōṭiki vacci nammina vāḍu ॥ koṇḍalalō nelakonna kōnēṭi rāyaḍu vāḍu koṇḍalanta varamulu guppeḍu vāḍu ॥
અર્થ:अपने भक्त कुम्हार कुरुवरति नम्बि को उसने माँगे हुए सारे वरदान दे दिए। और अपने लिए युद्ध लड़नेवाले सम्राट तोंडमान के पुकारने पर वह ठीक उसी स्थान पर आ खड़ा हुआ और उसका विश्वास बना रहा। वही है पहाड़ियों में बसा कोनेरु का स्वामी, जो मुट्ठियों से पर्वतों-जैसे वरदान बाँटता है।
અચ્ચપુ વેડુકતોડ નનન્તાલ્વારુકિ મુચ્ચિલિ વॆટ્ટિકિ મન્નિ મોસિનવાડુ । મચ્ચિક દॊલક તિરુનમ્બિ તોડુત નિચ્ચ નિચ્ચ માટલાડિ નॊચ્ચિનવાડુ ॥
accapu vēḍukatōḍa nanantālvāruki muccili veṭṭiki manni mōsinavāḍu । maccika dolaka tirunambi tōḍuta nicca nicca māṭalāḍi noccinavāḍu ॥
અર્થ:केवल आनंद के लिए उसने अपने भक्त अनंताल्वार के लिए मज़दूर की तरह मिट्टी ढोई। और स्नेह में पिघलकर वह तिरुमल नम्बि से नित्य-प्रतिदिन बातें करता रहा — घर के अपने जन की तरह।
કઞ્ચિલોન નુણ્ડ દિરુકચ્ચિનમ્બિ મીદ કરુણિઞ્ચિ તન યॆડકુ રપ્પિઞ્ચિન વાડુ । યॆઞ્ચિ ऎક્કુડૈન વેઙ્કટેશુડુ મનલકુ મઞ્ચિવાડૈ કરુણ બાલિઞ્ચિન વાડુ ॥ કॊણ્ડલલો નॆલકॊન્ન કોનેટિ રાયડુ વાડુ કॊણ્ડલન્ત વરમુલુ ગુપ્પॆડુ વાડુ ॥
kañcilōna nuṇḍa dirukaccinambi mīda karuṇiñci tana yeḍaku rappiñcina vāḍu । yeñci ekkuḍaina vēṅkaṭēśuḍu manalaku mañcivāḍai karuṇa bāliñcina vāḍu ॥ koṇḍalalō nelakonna kōnēṭi rāyaḍu vāḍu koṇḍalanta varamulu guppeḍu vāḍu ॥
અર્થ:दूर कांची में रहनेवाले तिरुकच्चि नम्बि पर करुणा करके उसने उन्हें अपने पास बुला लिया। विचार करके देखो — सबसे बड़ा वह वेंकटेश हमारे लिए कितना भला निकला — करुणा बरसाता, कृपा से हमें सँभालता। वही है पहाड़ियों में बसा कोनेरु का स्वामी, जो मुट्ठियों से पहाड़ों-जैसे वरदान देता है।
