✦ ਅਰਥ
ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਰਾਧਾ ਸ਼ੋਡਸ਼ਨਾਮ ਸਤੋਤਰਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਵੈਵਰਤ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਸਤੋਤਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਨਾਰਾਯਣ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਰਾਧਾਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸੋਲਾਂ ਸਾਰ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ — ਰਾਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸੇਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਕਾਂਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਚ੍ਚੰਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਭਾਨਨਾ ਤੱਕ। ਹਰ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਧਾ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਖ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ: ਰਾਸਨ੍ਰਿਤ੍ਯ ਦੀ ਰਾਣੀ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਅੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ, ਪਰਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਵ੍ਰਿੰਦਾਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਨੋਦਿਨੀ। ਇਸ ਦੀ ਫਲਸ਼੍ਰੁਤੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਲ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਧਾ-ਮਾਧਵ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Radha Shoddasha Nama Stotram appears in the Brahma-Vaivarta Purana, one of the great Puranas especially devoted to the glories of Radha and Krishna. In it Lord Narayana reveals sixteen names that distil the essence of Srimati Radharani's thousand names. Each name illumines a dimension of Radha — the queen of the rasa dance, the one dearer to Krishna than His own life-breath, she who sprang from His left side, the embodiment of supreme bliss, and the playful delight of Vrindavan. Because these names are called the very 'core' (sara) of Her thousand names, reciting this brief stotram is held to carry the potency of the full sahasranama.
✦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ
The Brahma-Vaivarta Purana declares that by the power of this stotram a sincere reciter becomes jivanmukta — liberated even while living — and attains unwavering devotion at the lotus feet of Radha-Madhava, such is the sanctifying force of merely uttering Radha's holy names.
ਅਰਥ ਸਹਿਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਠ
ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਗਤੀ ਜਾਂ ▶ ਬਟਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣੋ
ਸ਼੍ਰੀਨਾਰਾਯਣ ਉਵਾਚ । ਰਾਧਾ ਰਾਸੇਸ਼੍ਵਰੀ ਰਾਸਵਾਸਿਨੀ ਰਸਿਕੇਸ਼੍ਵਰੀ । ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼੍ਣਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਧਿਕਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼੍ਣਪ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼੍ਣਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਿਣੀ ॥ ੧॥

ਅਰਥ:श्रीनारायण ने कहा — राधा, रासेश्वरी (रास की स्वामिनी), रासवासिनी (रासस्थली में निवास करने वाली), रसिकेश्वरी (रसिकों की ईश्वरी); कृष्णप्राणाधिका (कृष्ण को प्राणों से भी प्रिय), कृष्णप्रिया (कृष्ण की प्रियतमा), कृष्णस्वरूपिणी (कृष्ण से अभिन्न स्वरूप वाली);
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼੍ਣਵਾਮਾਙ੍ਗਸਮ੍ਭੂਤਾ ਪਰਮਾਨਨ੍ਦਰੂਪਿਣੀ । ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼੍ਣਾ ਵ੍ਰਿਨ੍ਦਾਵਨੀ ਵ੍ਰਿਨ੍ਦਾ ਵ੍ਰਿਨ੍ਦਾਵਨਵਿਨੋਦਿਨੀ ॥ ੨॥

ਅਰਥ:कृष्णवामांगसम्भूता (कृष्ण के वाम अंग से प्रकट), परमानन्दरूपिणी (परम आनन्द की मूर्ति), कृष्णा (कृष्ण की स्त्री-स्वरूपा), वृन्दावनी (वृन्दावन की), वृन्दा, वृन्दावनविनोदिनी (वृन्दावन में विहार करने वाली);
ਚਨ੍ਦ੍ਰਾਵਲੀ ਚਨ੍ਦ੍ਰਕਾਨ੍ਤਾ ਸ਼ਰਚ੍ਚਨ੍ਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਭਾਨਨਾ । ਨਾਮਾਨ੍ਯੇਤਾਨਿ ਸਾਰਾਣਿ ਤੇਸ਼ਾਮਭ੍ਯਨ੍ਤਰਾਣਿ ਚ ॥ ੩॥
candrāvalī candra-kāntā śarac-candra-prabhānanā | nāmāny etāni sārāṇi teṣām abhyantarāṇi ca || 3||
ਅਰਥ:चन्द्रावली (चन्द्रमाओं की पंक्ति-सी), चन्द्रकान्ता (चन्द्र के समान सुन्दर), और शरच्चन्द्रप्रभानना (शरद्-चन्द्र की प्रभा वाले मुख वाली)। ये सोलह नाम (राधा के सहस्र नामों के) सार और अभ्यन्तर हैं।
ਯਾਵਜ੍ਜੀਵਮਿਦਂ ਸ੍ਤੋਤ੍ਰਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ੍ਧ੍ਯਂ ਯਃ ਪਠੇਨ੍ਨਰਃ । ਰਾਧਾਮਾਧਵਯੋਃ ਪਾਦਪਦ੍ਮੇ ਭਕ੍ਤਿਰ੍ਭਵੇਦਿਹ ॥ ੪॥
yāvaj-jīvam idaṁ stotraṁ tri-sandhyaṁ yaḥ paṭhen naraḥ | rādhā-mādhavayoḥ pāda-padme bhaktir bhaved iha || 4||
ਅਰਥ:जो मनुष्य जीवनभर त्रिकाल (तीनों सन्ध्याओं में) इस स्तोत्र का पाठ करता है, उसे यहीं राधा-माधव के चरणकमलों में भक्ति प्राप्त होती है।
ਸ੍ਤੋਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯਾਸ੍ਯ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵੇਣ ਜੀਵਨ੍ਮੁਕ੍ਤੋ ਭਵੇਨ੍ਨਰਃ ॥ ੫॥

श्री राधा षोडशनाम स्तोत्रम् ਪਾਠ ਵਿਧੀ
Sit before an image of Sri Radha or Radha-Krishna and recite the hymn at the three junctions of the day (tri-sandhya), as its own phala-shruti recommends, dwelling on the meaning of each of the sixteen names. Begin with the names verses and conclude with the phala-shruti, praying for devotion at the feet of Radha-Madhava. The hymn may be chanted once or repeated as japa; daily lifelong practice is especially praised.
