सिद्ध कुञ्जिका स्तोत्रम्

🕉️ hindu·📿 1× repetitions·🕐 During Navratri, before reading Durga Saptashati, or any time of great need·📜 Revealed by Lord Shiva to Parvati (part of Durga Saptashati tradition)

Origin & Story

Revealed by Lord Shiva to Parvati (part of Durga Saptashati tradition) · Lord Shiva (as narrator) · Ancient (Markandeya Purana tradition)

The Siddha Kunjika Stotram is presented as a dialogue between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Parvati asks Shiva about the easiest way to obtain the full fruit of the Durga Saptashati (700 verses of Devi Mahatmyam from the Markandeya Purana). Shiva reveals this 'secret key' — a concentrated essence of all the power of the Saptashati in a single stotra. He emphasizes its secrecy, saying it should be guarded as carefully as one's own deepest secret, and that even the gods find it rare.

✦ As told in scripture

The Durga Saptashati (Chandi Path) is one of the most powerful texts in Hinduism — it is said that its complete recitation during Navratri can fulfill any desire. However, the full recitation requires elaborate preparations (Kavach, Argala, Keelakam, Nyasa, etc.) that take hours. Lord Shiva revealed the Kunjika as a shortcut that contains the ENTIRE power of the Saptashati in concentrated form. Devotees across India testify that during Navratri, chanting just the Kunjika Stotra with intense devotion has resolved seemingly impossible problems — court cases, health crises, financial ruin, and relationship breakdowns.

Best TimeDuring Navratri, before reading Durga Saptashati, or any time of great need

This stotra is traditionally chanted BEFORE reading the Durga Saptashati (Chandi Path). Lord Shiva tells Parvati that by chanting just this stotra, one gets the complete fruit of the entire 700-verse Saptashati — without needing the Kavach, Argala, Keelakam or any other preparation. Sit before Durga's image. Light a ghee diya. Chant with intense focus and devotion. The bija mantras (Aim, Hreem, Kleem) should be pronounced precisely. During Navratri, chant daily for 9 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

'Siddha' means perfected/accomplished. 'Kunjika' means key. Together: 'The Perfected Key' — it is the master key that unlocks the complete power of the Durga Saptashati without any other rituals or preparations.
Lord Shiva tells Parvati that normally, to recite the Durga Saptashati properly, one needs the Kavach (armor), Argala (bolt), Keelakam (pin), meditation, nyasa, and worship. But the Kunjika Stotra is the 'key' that bypasses ALL of these — one simple reading gives the complete result.
Lord Shiva himself declares in the stotra: 'Kunjikapaathamatrena Durgaapaathphalam Labhet' — merely by reading the Kunjika, one obtains the fruit of the entire Durga path. He also calls it 'Ati Guhyataram' (most secret) and 'Devaanamapi Durlabham' (rare even for the gods).
Chant it once before each reading of the Durga Saptashati during Navratri. If you cannot read the full 700-verse Saptashati, chanting just the Kunjika Stotra is said to give equivalent results. This makes it the most important Navratri prayer for those short on time.
Aim (Saraswati/knowledge), Hreem (Shakti/cosmic energy), Kleem (desire/attraction), Glaum (Ganesha/obstacle removal), Hum (Shiva/protection), Phat (destruction of negativity), Svaha (offering). Together they invoke the complete spectrum of divine feminine power.
