The Tulasi Stotram belongs to the rich body of Vaishnava devotional hymns in which the holy basil plant is venerated as a goddess inseparable from Lord Vishnu. Its closing verses identify the singer as the wise sage Pundarika, who is said to have worshipped Vishnu every day with Tulasi leaves and composed this praise in her honour. In Hindu tradition Tulasi grows in the courtyard of nearly every devout home, is worshipped at dawn and dusk, and is ceremonially married to Vishnu (Tulasi Vivah) at the close of the Kartik month, marking the start of the wedding season.

It is traditionally held that the mere sight, praise or remembrance of Tulasi purifies even great sinners, as the third and fourth verses declare; and devotees recount that placing a single Tulasi leaf on the image of Vishnu, or offering daily worship at the Tulasi plant, has brought health, harmony and prosperity to countless households across generations.

અર્થ:हे जगत् का पालन करने वाली, विष्णु की प्रियतमा! आपको नमस्कार है; आपके ही कारण ब्रह्मा आदि देवता सृष्टि, स्थिति और संहार करते हैं।
નમસ્તુલસિ કલ્યાણિ નમો વિષ્ણુપ્રિયે શુભે। નમો મોક્ષપ્રદે દેવિ નમઃ સમ્પત્પ્રદાયિકે॥
Namastulasi kalyani namo vishnupriye shubhe Namo mokshaprade devi namah sampat-pradayike
અર્થ:हे कल्याणी तुलसी! आपको नमस्कार; हे विष्णुप्रिये, शुभे! नमस्कार; हे मोक्ष देने वाली देवी! नमस्कार; हे सम्पत्ति प्रदान करने वाली! नमस्कार।
તુલસી પાતુ માં નિત્યં સર્વાપદ્ભ્યોઽપિ સર્વદા। કીર્તિતાપિ સ્મૃતા વાપિ પવિત્રયતિ માનવમ્॥

અર્થ:तुलसी सदा सर्वदा सब विपत्तियों से मेरी रक्षा करें। कीर्तन किए जाने पर अथवा स्मरण किए जाने पर भी वे मनुष्य को पवित्र कर देती हैं।
નમામિ શિરસા દેવીં તુલસીં વિલસત્તનુમ્। યાં દૃષ્ટ્વા પાપિનો મર્ત્યા મુચ્યન્તે સર્વકિલ્બિષાત્॥

અર્થ:मैं उस देदीप्यमान देहधारिणी देवी तुलसी को शिर झुकाकर प्रणाम करता हूँ, जिनके दर्शन से पापी मनुष्य समस्त पापों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं।
તુલસ્યા રક્ષિતં સર્વં જગદેતચ્ચરાચરમ્। યા વિનિહન્તિ પાપાનિ દૃષ્ટ્વા વા પાપિભિર્નરૈઃ॥
Tulasya rakshitam sarvam jagadetach-chara-charam Ya vinihanti papani drishtva va papibhir-naraih
અર્થ:तुलसी के द्वारा यह सम्पूर्ण चराचर जगत् रक्षित है; जो पापी मनुष्यों के द्वारा देखे जाने पर भी उनके पापों का नाश कर देती हैं।
નમસ્તુલસ્યતિતરાં યસ્યૈ બદ્ધ્વાઞ્જલિં કલૌ। કલયન્તિ સુખં સર્વં સ્ત્રિયો વૈશ્યાસ્તથાપરે॥
Namastulasyatitaram yasyai baddhvanjalim kalau Kalayanti sukham sarvam striyo vaishyas-tathapare
અર્થ:तुलसी को बारम्बार नमस्कार है, जिनके लिए कलियुग में हाथ जोड़कर स्त्रियाँ, वैश्य तथा अन्य सभी समस्त सुख प्राप्त करते हैं।
તુલસ્યા નાપરં કિઞ્ચિદ્ દૈવતં જગતીતલે। યથા પવિત્રિતો લોકો વિષ્ણુસઙ્ગેન વૈષ્ણવઃ॥
Tulasya naparam kinchid daivatam jagati-tale Yatha pavitrito loko vishnu-sangena vaishnavah
અર્થ:इस पृथ्वीतल पर तुलसी से बढ़कर कोई देवता नहीं है, जैसे विष्णु के संग से वैष्णव के द्वारा सम्पूर्ण लोक पवित्र हो जाता है।
તુલસ્યાઃ પલ્લવં વિષ્ણોઃ શિરસ્યારોપિતં કલૌ। આરોપયતિ સર્વાણિ શ્રેયાંસિ વરમસ્તકે॥
Tulasyah pallavam vishnoh shirasy-aropitam kalau Aropayati sarvani shreyamsi vara-mastake
અર્થ:कलियुग में श्रीविष्णु के मस्तक पर चढ़ाया हुआ तुलसी का पल्लव भक्त के उत्तम मस्तक पर समस्त कल्याणों को आरोपित कर देता है।
તુલસ્યાં સકલા દેવા વસન્તિ સતતં યતઃ। અતસ્તામર્ચયેલ્લોકે સર્વાન્દેવાન્સમર્ચયન્॥
Tulasyam sakala deva vasanti satatam yatah Atas-tam-archayel-loke sarvan-devan-samarchayan
અર્થ:चूँकि तुलसी में समस्त देवता सदा निवास करते हैं, अतः लोक में उनकी पूजा करने वाला सभी देवताओं की पूजा कर लेता है।
નમસ્તુલસિ સર્વજ્ઞે પુરુષોત્તમવલ્લભે। પાહિ માં સર્વપાપેભ્યઃ સર્વસમ્પત્પ્રદાયિકે॥
Namastulasi sarvajne purushottama-vallabhe Pahi mam sarva-papebhyah sarva-sampat-pradayike
અર્થ:हे सर्वज्ञे तुलसी! हे पुरुषोत्तम की प्रियतमे! आपको नमस्कार; हे समस्त सम्पत्ति देने वाली! मुझे सब पापों से बचाइए।
ઇતિ સ્તોત્રં પુરા ગીતં પુણ્ડરીકેણ ધીમતા। વિષ્ણુમર્ચયતા નિત્યં શોભનૈસ્તુલસીદલૈઃ॥
Iti stotram pura gitam pundarikena dhimata Vishnum-archayata nityam shobhanais-tulasi-dalaih
અર્થ:यह स्तोत्र पूर्वकाल में बुद्धिमान् पुण्डरीक ऋषि ने गाया था, जो नित्य सुन्दर तुलसीदलों से विष्णु की अर्चना करते थे।
તુલસી શ્રીર્મહાલક્ષ્મીર્વિદ્યાવિદ્યા યશસ્વિની। ધર્મ્યા ધર્માનના દેવી દેવીદેવમનઃપ્રિયા॥
Tulasi shrir-mahalakshmir-vidyavidya yashasvini Dharmya dharmanana devi devi-deva-manah-priya
અર્થ:तुलसी, श्री, महालक्ष्मी, विद्या, अविद्या, यशस्विनी, धर्म्या, धर्मानना, देवी, देवों के मन की प्रिय,
લક્ષ્મીપ્રિયસખી દેવી દ્યૌર્ભૂમિરચલા ચલા। ષોડશૈતાનિ નામાનિ તુલસ્યાઃ કીર્તયન્નરઃ॥
Lakshmi-priya-sakhi devi dyaur-bhumir-achala chala Shodashaitani namani tulasyah kirtayan-narah
અર્થ:लक्ष्मी की प्रिय सखी, देवी, द्यौ, भूमि, अचला और चला — तुलसी के इन सोलह नामों का कीर्तन करने वाला मनुष्य
લભતે સુતરાં ભક્તિમન્તે વિષ્ણુપદં લભેત્। તુલસી ભૂર્મહાલક્ષ્મીઃ પદ્મિની શ્રીર્હરિપ્રિયા॥
Labhate sutaram bhaktim-ante vishnu-padam labhet Tulasi bhur-mahalakshmih padmini shrir-hari-priya
અર્થ:परम भक्ति प्राप्त करता है और अन्त में विष्णुपद को पाता है। (उनके नाम हैं) तुलसी, भू, महालक्ष्मी, पद्मिनी, श्री और हरिप्रिया।
તુલસિ શ્રીસખિ શુભે પાપહારિણિ પુણ્યદે। નમસ્તે નારદનુતે નારાયણમનઃપ્રિયે॥
Tulasi shri-sakhi shubhe papa-harini punya-de Namaste narada-nute narayana-manah-priye
અર્થ:हे श्री की सखी, शुभे, पापहारिणी, पुण्यदायिनी तुलसी! आपको नमस्कार, जो नारद से वन्दित और नारायण के मन की प्रिया हैं।

तुलसी स्तोत्रम् જપ વિધિ
Stand or sit before the Tulasi plant (or her image), offer water, a lamp and flowers, and recite the stotram with devotion. It is traditionally chanted while circumambulating the Tulasi vrindavan. The twelfth to fourteenth verses contain the sixteen sacred names of Tulasi; reciting these names is itself considered highly meritorious. Lighting a ghee lamp at the Tulasi plant at dusk while reciting is especially auspicious in Kartik month.
