Attributed to Tulsidas, from the tradition of Ramcharitmanas · Goswami Tulsidas · 16th century CE
Bajrang Baan was composed by Goswami Tulsidas as a powerful prayer-arrow (baan) invoking Hanuman's fierce protective form. According to tradition, Tulsidas composed this prayer when he himself faced threats from evil forces and needed Hanuman's urgent intervention. The word 'Baan' means arrow, signifying that this prayer strikes like a divine arrow against all negative forces.

Nishchaya prema pratiti te, binaya karai sanmana. Tehi ke karaja sakala shubha, siddha karai Hanumana.
അർഥം:With firm love and faith, whoever prays with respect and reverence — Hanuman accomplishes all his auspicious tasks.
ജയ ഹനുമന്ത സന്ത ഹിതകാരീ। സുനി ലീജൈ പ്രഭു അരജ ഹമാരീ॥
Jaya Hanumanta santa hitakari, Suni lijai prabhu araja hamari.
അർഥം:Victory, O Hanuman, benefactor of saints; hear, O Lord, our humble plea.
ജന കേ കാജ വിലമ്ബ ന കീജൈ। ആതുര ദൌരി മഹാ സുഖ ദീജൈ॥
Jana ke kaja vilamba na kijai, Atura dauri maha sukha dijai.
അർഥം:Do not delay in your devotees' work; come running swiftly and grant great joy.
ജൈസേ കൂദി സിന്ധു വഹി പാരാ। സുരസാ ബദന പൈഠി ബിസ്താരാ॥
Jaise kudi sindhu vahi para, Surasa badana paithi bistara.
അർഥം:As you leapt across the ocean, entering and expanding within the mouth of Surasa;
ആഗേ ജായ ലംകിനീ രോകാ। മാരേഹു ലാത ഗഈ സുര ലോകാ॥
Age jaya Lankini roka, Marehu lata gai sura loka.
അർഥം:Going onward, Lankini barred your way; you struck her with a kick and she departed to the celestial world.
ജായ വിഭീഷണ കോ സുഖ ദീന്ഹാ। സീതാ നിരഖി പരമ പദ ലീന്ഹാ॥
Jaya Vibhishana ko sukha dinha, Sita nirakhi parama pada linha.
അർഥം:You gave joy to Vibhishana; beholding Sita, you attained the supreme blessing.
ബാഗ ഉജാരി സിന്ധു മഹം ബോരാ। അതി ആതുര യമ കാതര തോരാ॥
Baga ujari sindhu maham bora, Ati atura yama katara tora.
അർഥം:You laid waste the Ashoka garden and plunged Lanka into fear; swiftly you made even Yama tremble.
അക്ഷയ കുമാര മാരി സംഹാരാ। ലൂമ ലപേടി ലംക കോ ജാരാ॥
Akshaya Kumara mari samhara, Luma lapeti Lanka ko jara.
അർഥം:You slew Akshaya Kumara; wrapping your tail in flames, you burned Lanka.
ലാഹ സമാന ലംക ജരി ഗഈ। ജയ ജയ ധുനി സുര പുര മഹം ഭഈ॥
Laha samana Lanka jari gai, Jaya jaya dhuni sura pura maham bhai.
അർഥം:Lanka blazed up like lac; cries of victory rang out in the city of the gods.
അബ വിലമ്ബ കേഹി കാരണ സ്വാമീ। കൃപാ കരഹും ഉര അന്തര്യാമീ॥
Aba vilamba kehi karana svami, Kripa karahu ura antaryami.
അർഥം:Why the delay now, O Lord? Show your mercy, O inner-knower of every heart.
ജയ ജയ ലക്ഷ്മണ പ്രാണ കേ ദാതാ। ആതുര ഹോഇ ദുഃഖ കരഹും നിപാതാ॥
Jaya jaya Lakshmana prana ke data, Atura hoi dukha karahu nipata.
അർഥം:Victory, O giver of life to Lakshmana; act swiftly and strike down our sorrow.
ജയ ഗിരിധര ജയ ജയ സുഖ സാഗര। സുര സമൂഹ സമരഥ ഭടനാഗര॥
Jaya Giridhara jaya jaya sukha sagara, Sura samuha samaratha bhatanagara.
അർഥം:Victory, O lifter of the mountain, ocean of joy; mighty champion among the host of the gods.
ഓം ഹനു ഹനു ഹനു ഹനു ഹനുമന്ത ഹഠീലേ। ബൈരിഹിം മാരൂ ബജ്ര കീ കീലേ॥
Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumanta hathile, Bairihim maru bajra ki kile.
അർഥം:Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumanta, the resolute one; strike the foe and pin him with the thunderbolt.
ഗദാ ബജ്ര ലൈ ബൈരിഹിം മാരോ। മഹാരാജ പ്രഭു ദാസ ഉബാരോ॥
Gada bajra lai bairihim maro, Maharaja prabhu dasa ubaro.
അർഥം:With mace and thunderbolt strike the enemy; O great king, O Lord, deliver your servant.
ഓംകാര ഹുംകാര മഹാപ്രഭു ധാവോ। ബജ്ര ഗദാ ഹനു വിലമ്ബ ന ലാവോ॥
Omkara hunkara mahaprabhu dhavo, Bajra gada Hanu vilamba na lavo.
അർഥം:With Omkara and Hunkara, O great Lord, rush forth; do not delay the thunderbolt and the mace, O Hanu.
ഓം ഹ്രീം ഹ്രീം ഹ്രീം ഹനുമന്ത കപീസാ। ഓം ഹും ഹും ഹും ഹനു അരി ഉര ശീശാ॥
Om Hrim Hrim Hrim Hanumanta Kapisa, Om Hum Hum Hum Hanu ari ura shisha.
അർഥം:Om Hreem Hreem Hreem, Hanumanta, lord of monkeys; Om Hum Hum Hum upon the enemy's chest and head.
സത്യ ഹോഉ ഹരി ശപഥ പായകേ। രാമദൂത ധരു മാരു ധായ കേ॥
Satya hou Hari shapatha payake, Ramaduta dharu maru dhaya ke.
അർഥം:Let it come true, having taken the oath of Hari (Rama); O messenger of Rama, seize and strike, rushing forth.
ജയ ജയ ജയ ഹനുമന്ത അഗാധാ। ദുഃഖ പാവത ജന കേഹി അപരാധാ॥
Jaya jaya jaya Hanumanta agadha, Dukha pavata jana kehi aparadha.
അർഥം:Victory, victory, O unfathomable Hanumanta; for what offence does your devotee suffer so?
പൂജാ ജപ തപ നേമ അചാരാ। നഹിം ജാനത കഛു ദാസ തുമ്ഹാരാ॥
Puja japa tapa nema achara, Nahim janata kachhu dasa tumhara.
അർഥം:Worship, japa, austerity, observance and right conduct — your servant knows none of these.
വന ഉപവന മഗ ഗിരി ഗൃഹ മാഹീം। തുമരേ ബല ഹമ ഡരപത നാഹീം॥
Vana upavana maga giri griha mahim, Tumare bala hama darapata nahim.
അർഥം:In forest, grove, road, mountain or home — by your strength we are afraid of nothing.
പായ പരൌം കര ജോരി മനാവോം। യഹ അവസര അബ കേഹി ഗോഹരാവോം॥
Paya paraum kara jori manavom, Yaha avasara aba kehi goharavom.
അർഥം:I fall at your feet and implore with folded hands; at this moment, to whom else shall I call out?
ജയ അംജനി കുമാര ബലവന്താ। ശംകര സുവന ധീര ഹനുമന്താ॥
Jaya Anjani Kumara balavanta, Shankara suvana dhira Hanumanta.
അർഥം:Victory, O mighty son of Anjani; son of Shankara (Shiva), the steadfast Hanumanta.
ബദന കരാല കാല കുല ഘാലക। രാമ സഹായ സദാ പ്രതിപാലക॥
Badana karala kala kula ghalaka, Rama sahaya sada pratipalaka.
അർഥം:Of terrible visage, the destroyer of the family of Death (Kala); ever Rama's helper and protector.
ഭൂത പ്രേത പിശാച നിശാചര। അഗ്നി ബൈതാല കാല മാരീമര॥
Bhuta preta pishacha nishachara, Agni baitala kala marimara.
അർഥം:Ghosts, spirits, demons and night-wanderers; fire, vetalas, and the deadly plague —
ഇന്ഹേം മാരു തോഹി ശപഥ രാമ കീ। രാഖു നാഥ മരജാദ നാമ കീ॥
Inhem maru tohi shapatha Rama ki, Rakhu natha marajada nama ki.
അർഥം:Slay these, by the oath of Rama; preserve, O Lord, the honour of your name.
ജനകസുതാ ഹരി ദാസ കഹാവോ। താകീ ശപഥ വിലമ്ബ ന ലാവോ॥
Janaka-suta Hari dasa kahavo, Taki shapatha vilamba na lavo.
അർഥം:You are called the servant of Hari and of Janaki (Sita); by her oath, do not delay.
ജയ ജയ ജയ ധുനി ഹോത അകാശാ। സുമിരത ഹോത ദുസഹ ദുഃഖ നാശാ॥
Jaya jaya jaya dhuni hota akasha, Sumirata hota dusaha dukha nasha.
അർഥം:Cries of victory rise into the sky; by remembering you, unbearable sorrow is destroyed.
ചരണ ശരണ കരി ജോരി മനാവോം। യഹി അവസര അബ കേഹി ഗോഹരാവോം॥
Charana sharana kari jori manavom, Yahi avasara aba kehi goharavom.
അർഥം:At your feet, with folded hands, I implore; at this moment, to whom else shall I call out?
ഉഠു ഉഠു ചലു തോഹിം രാമ ദുഹാഈ। പാംയ പരൌം കര ജോരി മനാഈ॥
Uthu uthu chalu tohim Rama duhai, Pamya paraum kara jori manai.
അർഥം:Arise, arise, come forth — by the entreaty of Rama; I fall at your feet, imploring with folded hands.
ഓം ചം ചം ചം ചം ചപല ചലന്താ। ഓം ഹനു ഹനു ഹനു ഹനു ഹനുമന്താ॥
Om Cham Cham Cham Cham chapala chalanta, Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumanta.
അർഥം:Om Cham Cham Cham Cham, the swift-moving one; Om Hanu Hanu Hanu Hanumanta.
ഓം ഹം ഹം ഹാംക ദേത കപി ചഞ്ചല। ഓം സം സം സഹമ പരാനേ ഖല ദല॥
Om Ham Ham hanka deta kapi chanchala, Om Sam Sam sahama parane khala dala.
അർഥം:Om Ham Ham — the nimble monkey gives a roar; Om Sam Sam — the wicked hordes flee in terror.
അപനേ ജന കോ തുരത ഉബാരോ। സുമിരത ഹോയ ആനന്ദ ഹമാരോ॥
Apane jana ko turata ubaro, Sumirata hoya ananda hamaro.
അർഥം:Swiftly deliver your own devotee; by remembering you, our joy arises.
യഹി ബജരംഗ ബാണ ജേഹി മാരോ। താഹി കഹോ ഫിര കൌന ഉബാരോ॥
Yahi Bajaranga Bana jehi maro, Tahi kaho phira kauna ubaro.
അർഥം:Whoever is struck by this Bajrang Baan — tell me, who can then save him?
പാഠ കരൈ ബജരംഗ ബാണ കീ। ഹനുമത രക്ഷാ കരൈ പ്രാണ കീ॥
Patha karai Bajaranga Bana ki, Hanumata raksha karai prana ki.
അർഥം:Whoever recites the Bajrang Baan — Hanuman protects his very life.
യഹ ബജരംഗ ബാണ ജോ ജാപൈ। തേഹി തേ ഭൂത പ്രേത സബ കാംപേ॥
Yaha Bajaranga Bana jo japai, Tehi te bhuta preta saba kampe.
അർഥം:Whoever recites this Bajrang Baan — by it all ghosts and spirits tremble.
ധൂപ ദേയ അരു ജപൈ ഹമേശാ। താകേ തന നഹിം രഹേ കലേശാ॥
Dhupa deya aru japai hamesha, Take tana nahim rahe klesha.
അർഥം:Whoever offers incense and recites it daily — no affliction remains in his body.
പ്രേമ പ്രതീതിഹിം കപി ഭജൈ, സദാ ധരൈ ഉര ധ്യാന। തേഹി കേ കാരജ സകല ശുഭ, സിദ്ധ കരൈ ഹനുമാന॥
Prema pratitihim kapi bhajai, sada dharai ura dhyana. Tehi ke karaja sakala shubha, siddha karai Hanumana.
അർഥം:The monkey-lord (Hanuman), worshipped with love and faith and ever held in the heart's meditation, accomplishes for that devotee all his auspicious tasks.

Bajrang Baan പാരായണ വിധി
Bajrang Baan is an extremely powerful prayer and must be recited with full devotion and discipline. Light a mustard oil lamp before a Hanuman idol. Apply sindoor (vermilion) tilak. Sit facing south or east. Recite with intense faith and unwavering concentration. This is traditionally chanted during times of grave danger or when facing serious threats. It should be recited 7 times for maximum effect. Maintain brahmacharya (celibacy) on the day of recitation. Do not recite casually — this is considered a spiritual weapon.
