The Ram Chalisa is a forty-verse Hindi hymn in the beloved chalisa tradition, praising Rama as Maryada Purushottam — the perfect embodiment of dharma. It dwells above all on the boundless power of Rama's name, which the Vedas proclaim, which Shiva eternally repeats, and which carries the devotee across every difficulty to the abode of Vaikuntha.

અર્થ:O Sri Raghuvira (Rama), benefactor of your devotees, hear, O Lord, this humble plea of ours.
નિશિ દિન ધ્યાન ધરૈ જો કોઈ। તા સમ ભક્ત ઔર નહીં હોઈ॥
Nishi dina dhyana dharai jo koi Ta sama bhakta aura nahim hoi
અર્થ:Whoever meditates upon you night and day — there is no devotee equal to them.
ધ્યાન ધરેં શિવજી મન માંહી। બ્રહ્મા, ઇન્દ્ર પાર નહીં પાહીં॥
Dhyana dharem shivaji mana mamhi Brahma, indra para nahim pahim
અર્થ:Shiva himself holds your meditation in his heart; even Brahma and Indra cannot reach your limit.
દૂત તુમ્હાર વીર હનુમાના। જાસુ પ્રભાવ તિહું પુર જાના॥
Duta tumhara vira hanumana Jasu prabhava tihum pura jana
અર્થ:Your messenger is the hero Hanuman, whose might is known throughout the three worlds.
જય, જય, જય રઘુનાથ કૃપાલા। સદા કરો સંતન પ્રતિપાલા॥
Jaya, jaya, jaya raghunatha kripala Sada karo samtana pratipala
અર્થ:Victory, victory, victory, O compassionate Raghunatha; ever protect the saints.
તુવ ભુજદણ્ડ પ્રચણ્ડ કૃપાલા। રાવણ મારિ સુરન પ્રતિપાલા॥
Tuva bhujadanda prachanda kripala Ravana mari surana pratipala
અર્થ:Your mighty arms are fierce, O merciful one; slaying Ravana, you protected the gods.
તુમ અનાથ કે નાથ ગોસાઈં। દીનન કે હો સદા સહાઈ॥
Tuma anatha ke natha gosaim Dinana ke ho sada sahai
અર્થ:You are the Lord of the orphaned, O Master; ever the helper of the lowly.
બ્રહ્માદિક તવ પાર ન પાવૈં। સદા ઈશ તુમ્હરો યશ ગાવૈં॥
Brahmadika tava para na pavaim Sada isha tumharo yasha gavaim
અર્થ:Brahma and the gods cannot find your limit; ever, O Lord, they sing your glory.
ચારિઉ ભેદ ભરત હૈં સાખી। તુમ ભક્તન કી લજ્જા રાખી॥
Chariu bheda bharata haim sakhi Tuma bhaktana ki lajja rakhi
અર્થ:The four Vedas bear witness; you preserve the honour of your devotees.
ગુણ ગાવત શારદ મન માહીં। સુરપતિ તાકો પાર ન પાહિં॥
Guna gavata sharada mana mahim Surapati tako para na pahim
અર્થ:Sharada (Saraswati) sings your virtues in her heart, yet even Indra cannot reach your end.
નામ તુમ્હાર લેત જો કોઈ। તા સમ ધન્ય ઔર નહીં હોઈ॥
Nama tumhara leta jo koi Ta sama dhanya aura nahim hoi
અર્થ:Whoever takes your name — none is more blessed than they.
રામ નામ હૈ અપરમ્પારા। ચારિહુ વેદન જાહિ પુકારા॥
Rama nama hai aparampara Charihu vedana jahi pukara
અર્થ:The name of Rama is boundless; all four Vedas proclaim it.
ગણપતિ નામ તુમ્હારો લીન્હો। તિનકો પ્રથમ પૂજ્ય તુમ કીન્હો॥
Ganapati nama tumharo linho Tinako prathama pujya tuma kinho
અર્થ:You took on the name of Ganapati (Ganesha) and made him the first to be worshipped.
શેષ રટત નિત નામ તુમ્હારા। મહિ કો ભાર શીશ પર ધારા॥
Shesha ratata nita nama tumhara Mahi ko bhara shisha para dhara
અર્થ:Shesha (the serpent) ever repeats your name, bearing the burden of the earth upon his head.
ફૂલ સમાન રહત સો ભારા। પાવત કોઊ ન તુમ્હરો પારા॥
Phula samana rahata so bhara Pavata kou na tumharo para
અર્થ:That burden rests as light as a flower for him; yet no one finds your limit.
ભરત નામ તુમ્હરો ઉર ધારો। તાસોં કબહૂં ન રણ મેં હારો॥
Bharata nama tumharo ura dharo Tasom kabahum na rana mem haro
અર્થ:Hold the name of Bharata in your heart, and you will never be defeated in battle.
નામ શત્રુહન હૃદય પ્રકાશા। સુમિરત હોત શત્રુ કર નાશા॥
Nama shatruhana hridaya prakasha Sumirata hota shatru kara nasha
અર્થ:The name of Shatrughna shines in the heart; remembering it, the enemy is destroyed.
લખન તુમ્હારે આજ્ઞાકારી। સદા કરત સન્તન રખવારી॥
Lakhana tumhare ajnakari Sada karata santana rakhavari
અર્થ:Lakshmana is obedient to you, ever guarding the saints.
તાતે રણ જીતે નહિં કોઈ। યુદ્ધ જુરે યમહૂં કિન હોઈ॥
Tate rana jite nahim koi Yuddha jure yamahum kina hoi
અર્થ:Therefore none can win against them in battle, even were Yama himself to join the fight.
મહાલક્ષ્મી ધર અવતારા। સબ વિધિ કરત પાપ કો છારા॥
Mahalakshmi dhara avatara Saba vidhi karata papa ko chhara
અર્થ:Mahalakshmi took incarnation (as Sita) and in every way reduced sin to ashes.
સીતા રામ પુનીતા ગાયો। ભુવનેશ્વરી પ્રભાવ દિખાયો॥
Sita rama punita gayo Bhuvaneshvari prabhava dikhayo
અર્થ:Sita and Rama were sung as purifiers; she showed the power of Bhuvaneshwari.
ઘટ સોં પ્રકટ ભઈ સો આઈ। જાકો દેખત ચન્દ્ર લજાઈ॥
Ghata som prakata bhai so ai Jako dekhata chandra lajai
અર્થ:She appeared from the earth (a pot), at whose sight even the moon felt shy.
જો તુમ્હરે નિત પાંવ પલોટત। નવો નિદ્ધિ ચરણન મેં લોટત॥
Jo tumhare nita pamva palotata Navo niddhi charanana mem lotata
અર્થ:Those who ever press your feet — the nine treasures roll at their feet.
સિદ્ધિ અઠારહ મંગલકારી। સો તુમ પર જાવૈ બલિહારી॥
Siddhi atharaha mamgalakari So tuma para javai balihari
અર્થ:The eighteen auspicious siddhis are ever sacrificed in devotion to you.
ઔરહુ જો અનેક પ્રભુતાઈ। સો સીતાપતિ તુમહિં બનાઈ॥
Aurahu jo aneka prabhutai So sitapati tumahim banai
અર્થ:And whatever other glories exist, O Lord of Sita, you have created them all.
ઇચ્છા તે કોટિન સંસારા। રચત ન લાગત પલ કી બારા॥
Ichchha te kotina samsara Rachata na lagata pala ki bara
અર્થ:By your mere wish, millions of universes are made in less than a moment.
જો તુમ્હરે ચરણન ચિત લાવૈ। તાકી મુક્તિ અવસિ હો જાવૈ॥
Jo tumhare charanana chita lavai Taki mukti avasi ho javai
અર્થ:Whoever fixes the mind upon your feet surely attains liberation.
સુનહુ રામ તુમ તાત હમારે। તુમહિં ભરત કુલ પૂજ્ય પ્રચારે॥
Sunahu rama tuma tata hamare Tumahim bharata kula pujya prachare
અર્થ:Hear me, O Rama, you are our father; you are proclaimed worthy of worship in Bharata's line.
તુમહિં દેવ કુલ દેવ હમારે। તુમ ગુરુ દેવ પ્રાણ કે પ્યારે॥
Tumahim deva kula deva hamare Tuma guru deva prana ke pyare
અર્થ:You are the deity of our family of gods; you are our Guru, beloved as our very life.
જો કુછ હો સો તુમહિં રાજા। જય જય જય પ્રભુ રાખો લાજા॥
Jo kuchha ho so tumahim raja Jaya jaya jaya prabhu rakho laja
અર્થ:Whatever there is, all is yours, O King; victory, victory, victory, O Lord — preserve our honour.
રામ આત્મા પોષણ હારે। જય જય જય દશરથ કે પ્યારે॥
Rama atma poshana hare Jaya jaya jaya dasharatha ke pyare
અર્થ:O Rama, nourisher of the soul; victory, victory, victory, O beloved of Dasharatha.
જય જય જય પ્રભુ જ્યોતિ સ્વરુપા। નર્ગુણ બ્રહૃ અખણ્ડ અનૂપા॥
Jaya jaya jaya prabhu jyoti svarupa Narguna brahri akhanda anupa
અર્થ:Victory, victory, O Lord of the form of pure light; the attributeless Brahman, unbroken and matchless.
સત્ય સત્ય જય સત્યવ્રત સ્વામી। સત્ય સનાતન અન્તર્યામી॥
Satya satya jaya satyavrata svami Satya sanatana antaryami
અર્થ:Truly, truly, victory, O Lord true to your vow; the eternal Truth, the inner controller of all.
સત્ય ભજન તુમ્હરો જો ગાવૈ। સો નિશ્ચય ચારોં ફલ પાવૈ॥
Satya bhajana tumharo jo gavai So nishchaya charom phala pavai
અર્થ:Whoever sings your true praise surely obtains all four fruits of life.
સત્ય શપથ ગૌરીપતિ કીન્હીં। તુમને ભક્તિહિં સબ સિધિ દીન્હીં॥
Satya shapatha gauripati kinhim Tumane bhaktihim saba sidhi dinhim
અર્થ:Gauri's Lord (Shiva) took a true oath: you bestow every perfection through devotion.
જ્ઞાન હૃદય દો જ્ઞાન સ્વરુપા। નમો નમો જય જગપતિ ભૂપા॥
Jnana hridaya do jnana svarupa Namo namo jaya jagapati bhupa
અર્થ:Grant knowledge to my heart, O embodiment of knowledge; salutations, salutations, victory, O Lord of the world.
ધન્ય ધન્ય તુમ ધન્ય પ્રતાપા। નામ તુમ્હાર હરત સંતાપા॥
Dhanya dhanya tuma dhanya pratapa Nama tumhara harata samtapa
અર્થ:Blessed, blessed, blessed is your majesty; your name removes all affliction.
સત્ય શુદ્ધ દેવન મુખ ગાયા। બજી દુન્દુભી શંખ બજાયા॥
Satya shuddha devana mukha gaya Baji dundubhi shamkha bajaya
અર્થ:The true, pure praise was sung from the mouths of the gods; kettledrums sounded and conches were blown.
સત્ય સત્ય તુમ સત્ય સનાતન। તુમ હી હો હમરે તન-મન ધન॥
Satya satya tuma satya sanatana Tuma hi ho hamare tana-mana dhana
અર્થ:Truly, truly you are the eternal Truth; you alone are our body, mind and wealth.
યાકો પાઠ કરે જો કોઈ। જ્ઞાન પ્રકટ તાકે ઉર હોઈ॥
Yako patha kare jo koi Jnana prakata take ura hoi
અર્થ:Whoever recites this — knowledge arises clearly in their heart.
આવાગમન મિટૈ તિહિ કેરા। સત્ય વચન માને શિવ મેરા॥
Avagamana mitai tihi kera Satya vachana mane shiva mera
અર્થ:Their cycle of birth and death is ended — Shiva himself accepts this as true.
ઔર આસ મન મેં જો હોઈ। મનવાંછિત ફલ પાવે સોઈ॥
Aura asa mana mem jo hoi Manavamchhita phala pave soi
અર્થ:And whatever other hope is in the mind, that very wish is fulfilled.
તીનહું કાલ ધ્યાન જો લ્યાવૈ। તુલસી દલ અરુ ફૂલ ચઢ़ાવૈ॥
Tinahum kala dhyana jo lyavai Tulasi dala aru phula chadha़avai
અર્થ:Whoever brings your meditation at all three times of day, and offers tulsi leaves and flowers —
સાગ પત્ર સો ભોગ લગાવૈ। સો નર સકલ સિદ્ધતા પાવૈ॥
Saga patra so bhoga lagavai So nara sakala siddhata pavai
અર્થ:— and offers a simple food of greens — that person attains complete perfection.
અન્ત સમય રઘુબર પુર જાઈ। જહાં જન્મ હરિ ભક્ત કહાઈ॥
Anta samaya raghubara pura jai Jaham janma hari bhakta kahai
અર્થ:At the final hour they go to Rama's abode, where they are born as a devotee of Hari.
શ્રી હરિદાસ કહૈ અરુ ગાવૈ। સો બૈકુણ્ઠ ધામ કો પાવૈ॥
Shri haridasa kahai aru gavai So baikuntha dhama ko pavai
અર્થ:So says and sings Sri Haridas; that one attains the abode of Vaikuntha.
સાત દિવસ જો નેમ કર,પાઠ કરે ચિત લાય। હરિદાસ હરિ કૃપા સે,અવસિ ભક્તિ કો પાય॥
Sata divasa jo nema kara,patha kare chita laya Haridasa hari kripa se,avasi bhakti ko paya
અર્થ:Whoever, with a focused mind, keeps the discipline for seven days and recites it — by Hari's grace Haridas (the devotee) surely attains devotion.
રામ ચાલીસા જો પઢ़ે,રામ ચરણ ચિત લાય। જો ઇચ્છા મન મેં કરૈ,સકલ સિદ્ધ હો જાય॥
Rama chalisa jo padha़e,rama charana chita laya Jo ichchha mana mem karai,sakala siddha ho jaya
અર્થ:Whoever reads the Ram Chalisa, fixing the mind on Rama's feet — whatever wish is in the mind, all is fulfilled.

Ram Chalisa પાઠના લાભ
Daily recitation of the Ram Chalisa invokes the grace of Lord Rama (Maryada Purushottam) for protection, victory and righteousness.
Said to remove fear, enemies and obstacles, and to grant peace, prosperity and devotion.
The Chalisa promises that whoever recites it with the mind fixed on Rama's feet has every sincere wish fulfilled.
Recalls the glory of Rama's name — which even the Vedas proclaim and Shiva eternally repeats.
Especially powerful on Ram Navami, Tuesdays, and during Ramayana / Sundarkand recitation.

Ram Chalisa જપ વિધિ
After bathing, sit before an image of Sri Rama (with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman). Light a lamp, offer tulsi leaves and flowers, and recite the Chalisa with the mind fixed on Rama's lotus feet. The text recommends a focused seven-day observance for devotion. Conclude with 'Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram' and aarti.
