Devotees of the Sundara Kanda parayana tradition hold that beginning with this dhyana of the Rama-darbar invites the very presence of Hanuman into the recitation, for it is said that wherever Rama's glory is sung, Hanuman is present with folded hands and tear-filled eyes.

ವೈದೇಹೀಸಹಿತಂ ಸುರದ್ರುಮತಲೇ ಹೈಮೇ ಮಹಾಮಣ್ಡಪೇ ಮಧ್ಯೇ ಪುಷ್ಪಕಮಾಸನೇ ಮಣಿಮಯೇ ವೀರಾಸನೇ ಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಮ್ । ಅಗ್ರೇ ವಾಚಯತಿ ಪ್ರಭಞ್ಜನಸುತೇ ತತ್ತ್ವಂ ಮುನಿಭ್ಯಃ ಪರಂ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ್ತಂ ಭರತಾದಿಭಿಃ ಪರಿವೃತಂ ರಾಮಂ ಭಜೇ ಶ್ಯಾಮಲಮ್ ॥

ಅರ್ಥ:मैं उन श्यामवर्ण श्रीराम का भजन करता हूँ, जो सीता के साथ कल्पवृक्ष (देवद्रुम) के नीचे, एक विशाल स्वर्णमय मण्डप के मध्य, पुष्पक के मणिमय आसन पर वीरासन में विराजमान हैं; जो आगे बैठे पवनपुत्र हनुमान के पाठ करते समय मुनियों को परम तत्त्व का व्याख्यान कर रहे हैं; और जो भरत आदि भाइयों एवं भक्तों से घिरे हुए हैं।

Use it as the opening meditation before Rama worship, Ramayana parayana, or Sundara Kanda paaraayanam. Chanting it three times helps the scene arise clearly in the mind before the main recitation.
