Ya idaṁ śṛṇuyānnityaṁ yaścāpi parikīrtayet |

इदं शृणुयान्नित्यं यश्चापि परिकीर्तयेत् नाशुभं प्राप्नुयात्किञ्चित्सोऽमुत्रेह मानवः

Ya idaṁ śṛṇuyānnityaṁ yaścāpi parikīrtayet | Nāśubhaṁ prāpnuyātkiñcitso'mutreha ca mānavaḥ ||

Meaningजो मनुष्य इन सहस्र नामों को प्रतिदिन सुनता है अथवा कीर्तन करता है, उसे इस लोक और परलोक में कोई अशुभ प्राप्त नहीं होता।

वेदान्तगो ब्राह्मणः स्यात्क्षत्रियो विजयी भवेत् वैश्यो धनसमृद्धः स्याच्छूद्रः सुखमवाप्नुयात्

Vedāntago brāhmaṇaḥ syātkṣatriyo vijayī bhavet | Vaiśyo dhanasamṛddhaḥ syācchūdraḥ sukhamavāpnuyāt ||

Meaningब्राह्मण वेदान्त का ज्ञाता हो जाता है, क्षत्रिय विजयी होता है, वैश्य धन से समृद्ध होता है और शूद्र सुख को प्राप्त करता है।

Dharmārthī prāpnuyāddharmamarthārthī cārthamāpnuyāt |

धर्मार्थी प्राप्नुयाद्धर्ममर्थार्थी चार्थमाप्नुयात् कामानवाप्नुयात्कामी प्रजार्थी चाप्नुयात्प्रजाम्

Dharmārthī prāpnuyāddharmamarthārthī cārthamāpnuyāt | Kāmānavāpnuyātkāmī prajārthī cāpnuyātprajām ||

भक्तिमान् यः सदोत्थाय शुचिस्तद्गतमानसः सहस्रं वासुदेवस्य नाम्नामेतत्प्रकीर्तयेत्

Bhaktimān yaḥ sadotthāya śucistadgatamānasaḥ | Sahasraṁ vāsudevasya nāmnāmetatprakīrtayet ||

Meaningजो भक्तिमान् पुरुष प्रतिदिन उठकर, पवित्र होकर, उसी में मन लगाकर वासुदेव के इन सहस्र नामों का कीर्तन करता है,

Yaśaḥ prāpnoti vipulaṁ jñātiprādhānyameva ca |

यशः प्राप्नोति विपुलं ज्ञातिप्राधान्यमेव अचलां श्रियमाप्नोति श्रेयः प्राप्नोत्यनुत्तमम्

Yaśaḥ prāpnoti vipulaṁ jñātiprādhānyameva ca | Acalāṁ śriyamāpnoti śreyaḥ prāpnotyanuttamam ||

Meaningवह विपुल यश, अपने बन्धुओं में प्रधानता, अचल लक्ष्मी और सर्वोत्तम श्रेय को प्राप्त करता है।

Na bhayaṁ kvacidāpnoti vīryaṁ tejaśca vindati |

भयं क्वचिदाप्नोति वीर्यं तेजश्च विन्दति भवत्यरोगो द्युतिमान् बलरूपगुणान्वितः

Na bhayaṁ kvacidāpnoti vīryaṁ tejaśca vindati | Bhavatyarogo dyutimān balarūpaguṇānvitaḥ ||

Meaningउसे कहीं भय नहीं होता, वह वीर्य और तेज प्राप्त करता है, रोगरहित, कान्तिमान् तथा बल-रूप-गुण से सम्पन्न हो जाता है।

When the Pandavas approached the dying Bhishma, lying on a bed of arrows after the great war of Kurukshetra, Yudhishthira asked him by what single hymn a person could be liberated from all sorrow. Bhishma taught the thousand names of Vishnu and then declared this phalashruti, describing the abundant fruits gained by anyone who hears or recites them with devotion.

Phalashruti means 'the hearing of the fruits' — a concluding section of a hymn that describes the benefits (phala) one obtains by reciting or listening to it. This is the phalashruti of the Vishnu Sahasranama.
Who spoke these verses?
