This is the great healing verse of the Hanuman Chalisa. Tulsidas assures that by continuously chanting (japat nirantar) the name of the brave Hanuman ('Hanumat Bira'), all diseases (rog) are destroyed and every pain (pira) is removed. It is the foremost line invoked for recovery from illness, relief from suffering, and bodily and mental well-being, and is chanted at the bedside of the sick and during prayers for health.

In the Hanuman Chalisa, after describing Hanuman's power to banish ghosts and spirits, Goswami Tulsidas turns to his power to heal. This verse promises that constant chanting of the name of the brave Hanuman destroys all disease and removes every pain — a teaching especially associated with Tulsidas himself, who is traditionally said to have composed the Hanuman Bahuk while seeking relief from acute bodily affliction through Hanuman's grace.
