Author: Sage Markandeya (Rishi Markandeya)

Chapter 12 of the Devi Mahatmya, the 'Phala-stuti' chapter, records the Goddess's own declaration of the blessings that flow from hearing and reciting her glory. In this verse she assures that whoever attends her Mahatmya with devotion at the great annual autumn worship will be freed from all calamities and endowed with wealth and grain by her grace.
