Origin & History
Source: Sri Guru Granth Sahib (Ang 1–8). English translation: Sant Singh Khalsa (public domain).
Author: Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Japji Sahib is the very first bani of the Guru Granth Sahib, revered as the essence of Sikh teaching. It distils Guru Nanak’s vision of the One Formless Creator and the way a human being can live in harmony with the divine order (hukam) and ultimately merge with God.
