The Soundarya Lahari ('Waves of Beauty') is a revered tantric hymn to the Divine Mother, traditionally attributed to Adi Shankaracharya. Its first part, the Ananda Lahari, describes the Goddess's supreme power and the Sri Vidya. In this fourth verse, Shankara contrasts the Mother with all other deities: where they must gesture protection and boons, her feet alone accomplish both, effortlessly and beyond measure.

The verses of the Soundarya Lahari are traditionally associated with specific yantras and miraculous results when worshipped with devotion. This verse, exalting the Mother's feet as the source of fearlessness and limitless boons, is cherished by upasakas who attribute to it protection from danger and the fulfilment of prayers beyond their expectation.

ત્વદન્યઃ પાણિભ્યામભયવરદો દૈવતગણઃ ત્વમેકા નૈવાસિ પ્રકટિતવરાભીત્યભિનયા । ભયાત્ ત્રાતું દાતું ફલમપિ ચ વાઞ્છાસમધિકં શરણ્યે લોકાનાં તવ હિ ચરણાવેવ નિપુણૌ ॥
tvadanyaḥ pāṇibhyāmabhayavarado daivatagaṇaḥ tvamekā naivāsi prakaṭitavarābhītyabhinayā | bhayāt trātuṃ dātuṃ phalamapi ca vāñchāsamadhikaṃ śaraṇye lokānāṃ tava hi caraṇāveva nipuṇau ||
અર્થ:हे समस्त लोकों की शरण-स्थली! आपके अतिरिक्त सभी देवता अपने हाथों से अभय और वर देते हुए वर-अभय की मुद्राएँ दिखाते हैं। केवल आप ही ऐसी मुद्राएँ प्रकट नहीं करतीं — क्योंकि आपके चरण ही, स्वयं, समस्त भय से रक्षा करने और इच्छा से भी अधिक फल प्रदान करने में पूर्णतः समर्थ हैं।
