How to Chant क्रीं बीज मंत्र
Instructions
Kreem is a potent Tantric beej, ideally received from a qualified guru before intensive practice. With devotion, sit facing south or east at night before an image of Kali with a lamp and a red hibiscus flower. Chant 'Om Kreem Kalikayai Namah' 108 times using a rudraksha mala, pronouncing 'Kreem' with a rolled 'r' and resonant bindu. Surrender your fears and ego to the Mother as you chant. The new-moon night (Amavasya), and especially Kali Chaudas at Diwali, are the most powerful occasions. Maintain purity, humility and a fearless, loving heart.
Spiritual Significance
It is told that sincere repetition of Kreem under Kali's grace can swiftly cut through lifetimes of fear and bondage, like the Mother's sword severing illusion in a single stroke. Devotees in the Tantric tradition recount that the dark Mother, fearsome to the ego, becomes the tenderest protector to the surrendered heart that calls her by her seed-sound.
Origin & History
Source: Tantric tradition; Shakta Agamas, Kali Tantra and bija-mantra texts
Author: Tantric and Vedic seers (traditional)
In the Shakta tantras, Kreem is the great seed of Kali, the Mother who is beyond time (kala) and dissolves all that is impermanent. Composed of 'Ka' (Kali), 'Ra' (fire), 'Ee' (Mahamaya) and the bindu, it concentrates her transformative, fearless power into a single syllable. Kali stands at the head of the ten Mahavidyas, and her seed-sound Kreem is central to the most powerful protective and liberating mantras of the tradition.
