Instructions

Sit quietly facing east or north and use this verse as a dhyana shloka: as you recite, visualise the ocean of nectar, the gem-island, the kalpaka gardens, the Chintamani palace and the Mother seated upon the couch of Shiva as a wave of bliss. Let the imagery still the mind. Repeat 9, 11, 27 or 108 times before further worship or silent meditation.

Belonging to the Ananda Lahari, this verse is one of the principal dhyana (meditation) stanzas of the hymn, describing the Mother's abode of Manidvipa in the ocean of nectar. Its imagery closely follows the Tantric and Puranic descriptions of the Goddess's transcendent dwelling and is set in the Shikharini metre.
