✦ अर्थ
देवी प्रातःस्मरण स्तोत्रम् तीन श्लोकों का शान्त प्रभातकालीन स्तोत्र है, जिसमें भक्त प्रातःकाल दिव्य माता का स्मरण, वन्दन और आराधन करता है। प्रथम श्लोक उनके चन्द्रमा-सी उज्ज्वल, सहस्रबाहु और कमल-चरणों वाले स्वरूप का दर्शन करता है; द्वितीय श्लोक महिषासुर, शुम्भ आदि असुरों का नाश करने वाली दुर्गा को नमन करता है; तृतीय श्लोक उन्हें समस्त जगतों की धात्री और संसार-बन्धन से मुक्ति की हेतु रूप में आराधता है। यह प्रिय 'प्रातःस्मरण' परम्परा का स्तोत्र है, जिसका नित्य तथा विशेषकर नवरात्रि में पाठ होता है।

The Devi Pratah Smarana belongs to the much-loved family of 'morning remembrance' hymns of the Hindu devotional tradition, alongside the pratah-smarana stotras of Shiva and Vishnu. Recited at first light, it gathers the whole majesty of the Devi Mahatmyam into three verses — the Mother's luminous thousand-armed form, Her fierce slaying of Mahishasura and Shumbha, and Her grace as the sustainer of the worlds and giver of liberation — so that the devotee may begin each day held in the Mother's remembrance.

It is traditionally held that one who begins each day by remembering, bowing to and worshipping the Mother through these three verses is shielded through the day from misfortune and evil, for the hymn invokes the very Shakti who slew Mahishasura and Shumbha and who unbinds the soul from worldly bondage.

अर्थ:प्रातःकाल मैं उस देवी का स्मरण करता हूँ जिनकी कान्ति शरद् ऋतु के चन्द्रमा की किरणों के समान उज्ज्वल है, जो उत्तम रत्नमय मकर-कुण्डलों और हारों से विभूषित हैं; जो दिव्य आयुधों से सुशोभित सहस्र नीले हाथों वाली हैं, जिनके चरण लाल कमल के समान शोभायमान हैं — हे परमेश्वरी, आप।
प्रातर्नमामि महिषासुरचण्डमुण्ड- शुम्भासुरादिदलनोग्रपराक्रमाढ्याम्। दुर्गां भवार्तिहरणीं सकलार्तिनाशां वन्दे सुरासुरनतां कमलाधिवासाम्॥

अर्थ:प्रातःकाल मैं उन दुर्गा को प्रणाम करता हूँ जो महिषासुर, चण्ड-मुण्ड, शुम्भ आदि असुरों के संहार में उग्र पराक्रम से सम्पन्न हैं; जो संसार के दुःखों को हरने वाली, समस्त पीड़ाओं का नाश करने वाली हैं; देव और असुर जिन्हें नमन करते हैं, जो कमल में निवास करती हैं — उनकी मैं वन्दना करता हूँ।
प्रातर्भजामि भजतामभिलाषदात्रीं धात्रीं समस्तजगतां दुरितापहन्त्रीम्। संसारबन्धनविमोचनहेतुभूतां मायां परां समधिगम्य परस्य विष्णोः॥
prātar bhajāmi bhajatām-abhilāṣa-dātrīṃ dhātrīṃ samasta-jagatāṃ duritāpa-hantrīm | saṃsāra-bandhana-vimocana-hetu-bhūtāṃ māyāṃ parāṃ samadhigamya parasya viṣṇoḥ ||
अर्थ:प्रातःकाल मैं उनकी आराधना करता हूँ जो अपने भक्तों की अभिलाषाओं को पूर्ण करने वाली, समस्त जगतों की धात्री, पापों और अनिष्टों का नाश करने वाली हैं; जो परम विष्णु की परा माया को प्राप्त कर संसार-बन्धन से मुक्ति की हेतुभूत हैं।

देवी प्रातःस्मरण स्तोत्रम् जप विधि
On rising in the morning, after washing, sit facing east before an image of the Goddess. Recite the three verses slowly and with devotion, dwelling on Her form in the first, Her valour in the second, and Her grace in the third. It may be chanted as part of the daily pratah-smarana along with morning prayers to Shiva, Vishnu and the Guru.
