അർഥം:In Kolkata you yourself are Kali, the destroyer of the wicked, the greatly fearsome one.

അർഥം:Upon whomever your grace descends, that one obtains the pearl of devotion.
ദുഃഖ ദാരിദ്ര സംകട മിട ജാതാ। ധ്യാന തുമ്ഹാരാ ജോ ജന ധ്യാതാ॥
Duhkha daridra samkata mita jata Dhyana tumhara jo jana dhyata
അർഥം:Sorrow, poverty and calamity vanish for the one who meditates upon you.
ജോ ജന തുമ്ഹരീ മഹിമാ ഗാവൈ। ധ്യാന തുമ്ഹാരാ കര സുഖ പാവൈ॥
Jo jana tumhari mahima gavai Dhyana tumhara kara sukha pavai
അർഥം:Whoever sings your glory and meditates on you finds happiness.
ജോ മന രാഖേ ശുദ്ധ ഭാവനാ। താകീ പൂരണ കരോ കാമനാ॥
Jo mana rakhe shuddha bhavana Taki purana karo kamana
അർഥം:Whoever keeps a pure heart — their every wish you fulfil.
കുമതി നിവാരി സുമതി കീ ദാത്രീ। ജയതി ജയതി മാതാ ജഗധാത്രീ॥
Kumati nivari sumati ki datri Jayati jayati mata jagadhatri
അർഥം:Remover of dull wit, bestower of good understanding — victory, victory, O Mother, sustainer of the world!
ശുക്രവാര കാ ദിവസ സുഹാവന। ജോ വ്രത കരേ തുമ്ഹാരാ പാവന॥
Shukravara ka divasa suhavana Jo vrata kare tumhara pavana
അർഥം:Pleasant is the day of Friday; whoever keeps your holy fast,
ഗുഡ़ ഛോലേ കാ ഭോഗ ലഗാവൈ। കഥാ തുമ്ഹാരീ സുനേ സുനാവേ॥
Guda़ chhole ka bhoga lagavai Katha tumhari sune sunave
അർഥം:— offers jaggery and roasted chickpeas (gud-chana), and hears and tells your story,
വിധിവത പൂജാ കരേ തുമ്ഹാരീ। ഫിര പ്രസാദ പാവേ ശുഭകാരീ॥
Vidhivata puja kare tumhari Phira prasada pave shubhakari
അർഥം:— and worships you with due rites, then receives your blessed prasad.
ശക്തി- സാമരഥ ഹോ ജോ ധനകോ। ദാന- ദക്ഷിണാ ദേ വിപ്രന കോ॥
Shakti- samaratha ho jo dhanako Dana- dakshina de viprana ko
അർഥം:Those of means who give charity and dakshina to the brahmins,
വേ ജഗതീ കേ നര ഔ നാരീ। മനവാംഛിത ഫല പാവേം ഭാരീ॥
Ve jagati ke nara au nari Manavamchhita phala pavem bhari
അർഥം:— those men and women of the world obtain abundantly their heart's desire.
ജോ ജന ശരണ തുമ്ഹാരീ ജാവേ। സോ നിശ്ചയ ഭവ സേ തര ജാവേ॥

അർഥം:Whoever takes refuge in you surely crosses over the ocean of existence.
തുമ്ഹരോ ധ്യാന കുമാരീ ധ്യാവേ। നിശ്ചയ മനവാംഛിത വര പാവൈ॥

അർഥം:The maiden who meditates on you certainly attains the husband she desires.
സധവാ പൂജാ കരേ തുമ്ഹാരീ। അമര സുഹാഗിന ഹോ വഹ നാരീ॥
Sadhava puja kare tumhari Amara suhagina ho vaha nari
അർഥം:The married woman who worships you becomes an ever-blessed, undying suhagin (happily wed).
വിധവാ ധര കേ ധ്യാന തുമ്ഹാരാ। ഭവസാഗര സേ ഉതരേ പാരാ॥

അർഥം:Victory, victory, victory, O remover of calamity, destroyer of obstacles, doer of good!

Hama para samkata hai ati bhari Vegi khabara lo mata hamari
അർഥം:A great calamity is upon us — come swiftly, O Mother, and look upon us.

Recitation of the Santoshi Mata Chalisa brings contentment (santosh), peace and the fulfilment of sincere wishes.
It is the heart of the popular Santoshi Mata Friday (Shukravar) vrat, removing sorrow, poverty and calamity.
Said to grant a good husband to maidens, lasting saubhagya to married women, and refuge to all who take shelter in the Mother.
Recounts the Goddess's many forms across India's holy shrines, deepening devotion to the Divine Mother.
Calms anxiety and discontent, replacing them with gratitude and steadiness of mind.
Especially recited on Fridays, with an offering of jaggery and roasted chickpeas (gud-chana).
सन्तोषी माता चालीसा പാരായണ വിധി
On Friday, after bathing, sit before an image of Santoshi Mata and offer gud (jaggery) and chana (roasted chickpeas). Light a lamp, recite the opening doha and the chaupais with devotion, and listen to or tell the vrat katha. Avoid sour foods on the fast day. Conclude with aarti and distribute the prasad. The vrat is traditionally observed for 16 Fridays.
