'ठुमक चलत रामचंद्र' गोस्वामी तुलसीदास का सबसे प्रिय भजनों में से एक है, जो अयोध्या में बालक श्रीराम के पैंजनी बजाते पहले ठुमकते कदमों को सस्नेह चित्रित करता है। इसमें उनका किलककर गिरना, दशरथ जी की रानियों का दुलार, मूँगे-से अधर, मधुर बोल और झूलती नासिका-लटकन वर्णित है। तुलसीदास कहते हैं कि रघुवर की छबि की उपमा संसार में रघुवर की छबि के अतिरिक्त किसी से नहीं दी जा सकती।

Among his many songs of devotion, Tulsidas composed several depicting the childhood pastimes (bal-lila) of Lord Rama in Ayodhya. In this pad he imagines himself a witness in Dasharatha's palace, watching the divine infant take His first unsteady steps with tiny anklets ringing, tumbling and laughing while the queens dote on Him. Overcome by the sweetness of the scene, the poet declares that no comparison in all the world can capture Rama's beauty — it is like Rama's beauty alone.

Devotees say that singing this bhajan as a lullaby instantly soothes a crying child and the singer's own heart, for in dwelling on the Lord's infant form the mind forgets its sorrows; in many homes it is the traditional song used to rock the cradle during Rama Navami palna celebrations.

अर्थ:रामचंद्र ठुमक-ठुमक कर चल रहे हैं और उनकी पैंजनियाँ बज रही हैं।
किलकि किलकि उठत धाय गिरत भूमि लटपटाय। धाय मात गोद लेत दशरथ की रनियाँ॥
kilaki kilaki uṭhata dhāya girata bhūmi laṭapaṭāya dhāya māta goda leta daśaratha kī raniyā~
अर्थ:किलक-किलक कर वे उठकर दौड़ते हैं और लड़खड़ाकर भूमि पर गिर पड़ते हैं; दशरथ जी की रानियाँ दौड़कर उन्हें गोद में उठा लेती हैं।
अंचल रज अंग झारि विविध भाँति सो दुलारि। तन मन धन वारि वारि कहत मृदु बचनियाँ॥
aṃcala raja aṃga jhāri vividha bhā~ti so dulāri tana mana dhana vāri vāri kahata mṛdu bacaniyā~
अर्थ:अपने आँचल से उनके अंगों की धूल झाड़कर, अनेक प्रकार से दुलार करती हुई माता तन-मन-धन उन पर बार-बार न्योछावर करती हैं और कोमल वचन बोलती हैं।
विद्रुम से अरुण अधर बोलत मुख मधुर मधुर। सुभग नासिका में चारु लटकत लटकनियाँ॥
vidruma se aruṇa adhara bolata mukha madhura madhura subhaga nāsikā meṃ cāru laṭakata laṭakaniyā~
अर्थ:उनके अधर मूँगे के समान लाल हैं और मुख से मधुर-मधुर बोल फूटते हैं; सुंदर नासिका में मनोहर लटकन झूल रही है।
तुलसीदास अति आनंद देख के मुखारविंद। रघुवर छबि के समान रघुवर छबि बनियाँ॥
tulasīdāsa ati ānaṃda dekha ke mukhāraviṃda raghuvara chabi ke samāna raghuvara chabi baniyā~
अर्थ:तुलसीदास उस मुखारविंद को देखकर अत्यंत आनंदित हैं — रघुवर की छबि की उपमा केवल रघुवर की छबि से ही दी जा सकती है।
